JOB DESCRIPTION

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited educational institution.
Three years of responsible full-charge bookkeeping or accounting.
Valid Florida Driver License.

Perform financial audits and property inventory to ensure accuracy and validity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of principles and procedures of school accounting, purchasing and allied systems and records. Ability to use office
practices, procedures, equipment and standard clerical techniques as applied to the maintenance of an accounting system
involving a large number of complex transactions. Knowledge of principles and techniques applicable to the conduct of audits
of schools and departments. Ability to perform detail work involving written, numeric data and to make arithmetic
calculations rapidly and accurately. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and
the school officials contacted in the course of audit work. Knowledge of rules, laws and regulations related to budgeting and
fiscal record keeping, asset accounting and school fund accounting.
Performance Responsibilities: Essential Functions
Perform financial audits of schools to include: internal activity fund audit, petty cash audit and payroll audit.
Perform food services audits to include Accuclaim Review and free-reduced lunches.
Verify warehouse inventories.
Train all bookkeepers in accounting and audit procedures.
Verify tangible property inventory of departments/schools.
Maintain financial records for adult education.
Determine athletic equalization amounts for schools.
Prepare written audit reports.
Travel to various school sites.
Assume responsibility for the management of the office in the absence of the Manager.
Provide outstanding customer service, and use positive interpersonal communication skills.
Make all decisions and perform all tasks in accordance with Brevard Public Schools’ Organizational Values.
Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable federal laws and regulations.
