DATABASES
The databases are located on the MS/HS Library Page. Go to the district homepage and choose ‘Bronxville Middle School’ – on the right side
under links choose ‘MS/HS Library.’ Click on the ‘Databases’ link on the right side of the library page.
1. When you click on a database it will ask you to login – you must enter the username & password – it is the same for everyone:
username: bronxvillemhs
Password: look
2. Once the database opens, type your keywords/search terms in the search box – not a sentence or a question
3. A list of articles will appear. Look through the article titles, read the abstracts (summaries). Click on the titles of articles that you
think will help you answer your research questions. Note the dates of the articles, and remember to keep track of your sources!
YOU WILL NEED TO CREATE A BIBLIOGRAPHY !
SIRS Discoverer is a basic database that will help you find articles on your topic. The ‘Advanced Search’ button will help you
retrieve better results. Citations are provided in MLA format at the end of every article.

SIRS Issues Researcher delves into social issues from history to the present day. Articles and multimedia works are available
in full text format. Citations are provided in MLA format at the end of every article.
Student Resources in Context offers in depth articles. When conducting a search, pay attention to the information on the
left side of the results page under – Everything - a list will come up and you can choose what medium you would like to use: reference, news,
images, videos, etc. Citations are provided in MLA format at the end of every article.
CountryWatch provides current and historical political and economic information. On the homepage choose a country
to research. (You may be directed to login again: bronxvillemhs/look). Be sure to look on the left side of the page (scroll down) – choose
‘Country Overview’ ‘History’ ‘Political Conditions’ .
ProQuest (Multiple databases/DirectPlus/NYDirectPkg) houses periodical articles from magazines, newspapers, and
journals. Use the ‘Advanced Search’ option for more accurate results. Use the Citation button and choose MLA 7 for citations.
ProQuest - Historical NY Times houses articles from popular magazines and articles dating back to 1851. Simply
search your topic and click the results from the correct time period. Excellent resource (no citation creator – copy down the info.)

copied and pasted. If you use an online source/webpage (not from a database) use Easybib to help you create your citation.
