PROJECT DIRECTOR FOR DURHAM-ORANGE LIGHT RAIL IN NC
Triangle Transit is now GO Triangle and along with our new name comes several other
changes. We are recruiting for several new positions as we embark upon developing a
light rail system for Durham and Orange counties in North Carolina. The 17 mile rail
system will require the skills of an experienced Project Director to lead us through
the entire process of planning, design, and construction. The Project Director is an
executive level position reporting to the General Manager of Go Triangle. If you have
experience in light/heavy rail at either the executive or mid-executive level, we think
you will be excited for the opportunity to come and work on the first light rail system
for our region. The position requires a hands-on Project Director who is willing to face
the challenges of leading an organization through its initial planning and
implementation of providing passengers with options when traveling in a fast growing
region. The Durham-Orange region is one of the fastest growing in the country.
If you have at least ten years of successful experience working in a rail system
environment, we encourage you to apply for this position. A certified Professional
Engineer (PE) with an MBA is highly desirable.
The Project Director will have excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Experience in light rail transit projects through the final design, construction and
start-up phases; familiarity with FTA Oversight and New Starts requirements and
procedures under MAP 21; experience in coordinating with federal, state, and local
agencies plus experience in project management of $1B to 2B domestic transit
projects will further enhance the probability of an interview.
