EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY TOWN OF TURNER VALLEY MANAGER OF FINANCE/CORPORATE SERVICES The Town of Turner Valley is looking is looking for a dynamic leader to fill the position of Manager of Finance/Corporate Services. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position is responsible for providing financial and administrative leadership and direction for the long term financial sustainability of the whole municipality. The duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following: 1. Finance 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 1.7 1.8 1.9 1.10 Ensure accurate records and accounts are kept of the financial affairs of the municipality. Coordinates the preparation and submission to CAO of capital and operating budgets with appropriate explanatory and sustaining information. Develop and manage investment strategies for the town’s cash and investments. Prepare annual financial reports and returns and liaise with municipal auditor. Development of financial policies and financial reports as directed by CAO. Coordinates with Department Heads for municipal grant applications and prepares follow up accounting records. Design policies and programs for financial control. Collaborate with members of the Senior Management team on the formation of departmental financial reporting policies and programs. Coordinate the ongoing operation of computerized financial information systems for all departments. Duties as outlined in Section 208 (h-n) of the Municipal Government Act. 2. General 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 Ensure that all departments are being financially operated pursuant to the objectives of the CAO, policies and procedures of the Town, and all related statutory and regulatory requirements set forth by municipal, provincial and general governments or their agencies. Act as part of the Senior Management Team. Act as alternate signing officer for the Town. Perform other related duties as requested by CAO. Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have: • • • • • A professional designation (CA, CMA, CGA) or working towards professional designation; previous municipal finance experience; the ability to work both independently and manage a small staff; excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills; proficiency with Great Plains Dynamics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
