Brain Book Project
Working in a group of two or three, you are to write a book, aimed at an elementary or junior
high school audience that describes the different parts of the brain and explains their functions.
Be sure to include all of the following parts:
Brain Stem
Hypothalamus
Medulla
Amygdala
Reticular Formation
Hippocampus
Thalamus
Pons
Limbic System
Cerebellum
Frontal Lobe
Parietal Lobe
Occipital Lobe
Temporal Lobe
Corpus Callosum
Important things to consider when making your book:
 Develop some sort of storyline and/or interesting characters to help you tell the story of
the brain
 Make it look like a book (ex: with a cover that is made from material other than that of
the pages within the book).
 Include plenty of illustrations
o REMEMBER YOUR AUDIENCE – describe the parts and their functions in terms
that they can understand
 Keep it interesting by going beyond just mere definitions and explanations --- include
things like everyday examples people (kids) can relate to, fun facts, etc.
 Include enhancements such as pop up pictures, pull tables, wheel, etc!
