A-Z History Book .DOC.PDF Your Task: Create a book explaining 24 terms, people, places or ideas from Ancient Egypt. Each page will consist of a single word starting with a letter from the alphabet, a graphic, and complete sentence with the word in it. Instructions: 1. Use the half sheet pages to complete each page of your book. 2. On the front cover, design a title with an illustration. Be sure to identify yourself as the author. 3. Begin with the letter “A” and choose a term from the unit that begins with that letter. Example: If the page is ‘C’ and this was the unit on Mesopotamia, you might choose “Cuneiform”. You may choose any two letters to skip if you want. (Q and X most likely!) a) Write the term in big, colorful letters on the top of the page. b) Write at least 3 sentences explaining what the term means or how it relates to the topic. c) Be sure to write using your own words. If you do not understand what you are writing, your audience will not understand either. d) Include an image for each term. Images can be drawn by hand, found online or cut from magazines. (At least 12 images must be drawn by hand!!) Example: Cuneiform Cuneiform was the system of writing for the Sumerians. It was a wedge-shaped writing. It was used to help keep government lists and records. Ready to learn more about Ancient Egypt?! You get to choose! Your task is to create a unique way of presenting information on a topic you researched about Ancient Egypt. Topics could include: Pharaohs Ships Religion Gods/Goddesses Games Jobs Historic Sites/ Buildings Food Tools/Weapons Tombs/Pyramids Art The Great Spinx Inventions Mummification Agriculture (Farming) Government Clothing Fashion, Hairstyles & Make-Up Trade You may choose to work alone or with a partner from our Social Studies class. I will provide some resources for you. To gain additional information, use the internet or other methods of reliable research (such as encyclopedias or books from the library) to provide examples of information, facts and photos on the topic of your choice. Using a Google search, you can also type in what you are looking for. For example: “food of ancient Egypt”, “tools used in ancient Egypt”, “jobs of ancient Egypt”, etc. Doing this, will help you find more specific information on your topic. Websites that end in .edu, .org, or .gov are typically more reliable sources of information. You must write down the source of your information. Write the website title, located at the top of the webpage or write down the book title and author. You will turn in a list of your sources with the final project.
