Ancient Egyptian Homes By Eleanor Rowntree In Egyptian times you could build your house anywhere, anyhow you wanted. Each home was built out of brick, mud or straw. They were normally built low and with small windows and low doors to keep the heat and the sandstorms out. The Ancient Egyptians invented a type of mould to make bricks, this meant they could make more bricks to help build their homes. The bricks were dried in the sun, not an oven. Furniture In ancient Egypt furniture made out of wood was very dearer, because of this people only had the furniture that they really needed. The rooms were very basic but each room had a different function. The poor made their furniture out of local wood, as this was cheap. However the rich imported wood from overseas. They made their furniture out of ebony and cedar with ivory carved into it. Questions 1, Did the Ancient Egyptians buy things with money? People exchanged or swapped things, instead of using money.
