7.12F: Essential question
• How are the cell's structures and function essential for
sustaining life.
Unit questions: What you should know.
• How are plant and animal cells different?
• How do the cell's organelles function?

Spreadsheet
Activity
• Students will be researching
cells within their lab groups.
• Using the information gathered,
create a spreadsheet that shows
the relationship or individual
portions between cells.
• Topics can include: plant cells,
animal cells, human body cells,
prokaryote/eukaryotes, etc.
• Be sure To follow the assignment
rubric.
Concept Map
• Student groups will be using the
information they have learned
through research to create a
concept map displaying their
understand of relationships
among cells.
• Concept map should be easy to
follow and have an identifiable
flow from one part to the next.
• Student groups will have rubric
to follow
The Great Cell Webquest
The following webquest will be used for research
and to help with assignment completion. The webquest
is designed to teach students about cell organelles and
to walk them through creating a presentation using
technology.

TEKS - 7th Grade
• 112.197(b)12D Knowledge and Skills. Differentiate between structure and function in plant
and animal cell organelles including cell membrane, cell wall, nucleus, cytoplasm,
mitochondria, chloroplast, and vacuole.
• 112.197(b)12F Knowledge and Skills. Recognize that according to cell theory all
organisms are composed of cells and cells carry on similar functions such as extracting
energy from food to sustain life.
• Technology
• 126.15(c)1B Knowledge and Skills. Create and present original works as a means of
personal and group expression.
• 126.15(c)6N Knowledge and Skills. Integrate two or more technology tools to create a new
digital product.
