French 8th Grade Week of 5/19/14-5/23/14 5/19/14 Essential Question: Why is it important to learn how to use greetings and salutations in French? Activity: Students will work in pair to write and present a dialogue in front the class. Students will use French greetings, Questions and answers (How are you? and What is your name?) and Salutations. The written dialogue along with the presentation will be a test grade. Standards: 1.1, 1.2, 4.1 5/20/14 Essential Question: Why is it important to learn French vocabulary for items in a classroom? Activity: Introduction to classroom items. I will use the items around the class to introduce class room items in French. Students will repeat the word in French as I say each word to practice pronunciation. Students will work together to complete the packet on class room items and commands. Standards: 1.1, 1.2, 4.1 5/21/14 Essential Question: Why is it important to learn about French literature? Activity: Students will complete a reading comprehension packet on three famous French authors. Students will turn in completed assignment to the substitute teacher to be graded. Standards: 1.2, 1.1, 4.1 5/22/14 Essential Question: Why is it important to learn French vocabulary for items in a classroom? Activity: I will use the items around the class to practice classroom items in French. Students will repeat the word in French as I say each word to practice pronunciation. Students will create a picture of a class room and Label each item in French with the correct vocabulary word. *I will circulate the room to assist and assess student’s compression. Standards: 1.2, 1.1, 4.1 5/23/14 Essential Question: Why is it important to follow French classroom commands? Activity: Review French classroom commands from the packet using Total Physical Response. I will say the command aloud and demonstrate the action; students will then repeat the command physically and orally. Then I will use a game similar to Simon say to practice these commands.
