read I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Great for those who like a good mystery.
110. “Last December” by Matt Beam
A book written as a letter by Steven to his yet unborn sibling, Sam. It explains what is happening in
Steven’s life and why he is considering certain choices. A hockey theme is evident. Good for boys. I
didn’t enjoy the story line, it was slow moving.
111. Kingdom Series – “Kingdom’s Dawn” (book 1) & “Kingdom’s Hope” (book 2) by Chuck Black
An interesting and intriguing story of Leinad, a farm boy who has been extremely well trained in sword
fighting – although he does not know why. Follow him in his journey as he realizes his calling (by the
King) to restore the Arrethtrae Kingdom. I enjoyed this fast paced, Biblical referenced first two books of
the series. Great for guys and girls who like action & suspense.
112. “Guys Read – Thriller” edited by Jon Scieszka
A book filled with short stories by some famous authors including Haddix, Patterson and Horrowitz. A
terrific book for those interested more in short stories. Superb for guys, but also worth the read for gals
who like thrill, chill and adventure.
113. “Me & Death” by Richard Scrimger
Jim, a bully, gangster and car thief gets hit by a car. He goes to the after world and meets interesting
characters. Provided he survives his accident, will he change after his experience in the after world?
Good for gals & guys. Some mature content.
114. – 117. – Beautiful Creatures Series: “ Beautiful Creatures” (Book 1), “Beautiful Darkness” (Book 2),
“Beautiful Chaos” (Book 3),” Beautiful Redemption” (book 4) by Kamie Garcia & Margaret Stohl.
A FANTASTIC series featuring Ethan and Lena. They are from different worlds, one involving magic the
other not. A great story, with romance woven throughout. Extremely well written, I literally couldn’t put
the series down. Probably better for gals, some mature content.
118. “Cleopatra’s Moon” by Vicky Alvear Shecter
Cleopatra Selene is the daughter of Cleopatra, the Egyptian Queen. She’s grown up, until age 11, at
home with her parents and brothers. Everything changes when Roman Octavianus declares war on
Cleopatra. An interesting read for anyone interested in history.
119. “5th Wave” by Rick Yancey
After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only
the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one. Now, it’s the dawn of the
5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human,
who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay
alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan
Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must
choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up
or to get up. An excellent, adventurous read for guys and gals.
