TARDINESS

BOOK COVERS

SECOND GRADE CURRICULUM
• Reading: Super Kids- strong emphasis on phonics
• Math: McGraw- Hill- meets Common Core Standards
• Spelling: Pretest-Mondays & Final Test- Fridays…integrated within Super Kids
program
• Social Studies/ Science- rotation of 6 weeks of each to cover all topics
• Religion- follow biblical teachings and scripture of Catholic Church
HOMEWORK
• Weekly homework sheet and spelling list distributed every Monday
• Refer to JPRCS website for updates and/or revisions
• Homework reinforces skills from school…MUST BE WRITTEN NEATLY, INCLUDE # ON
PAPERS
• Homework includes 15 minutes of daily reading

• Accelerated Reader supports reading and comprehension.

TEST FOLDERS
• Test folders will be sent home weekly beginning September 15th
• Will include graded quizzes, classwork and tests from previous week
• Review, sign sheet and return RED test folder the following day
• Return any papers with a P- or 80% or lower
BIRTHDAYS
• You may send in a small snack to share (PLEASE NO NUT OR PEANUT
PRODUCTS
• Celebrate during snack time (20 minutes)—no juice or cake
• No party invitations will be distributed unless ALL students are invited
CLASS PARTIES
• We will celebrate special occasions throughout the year
• Volunteers are always welcome
• Must be STAND trained
MORNING RECESS/ LUNCH
• Morning snack daily
• Provide a light, healthy snack with small water or juice
• Desk towel
INCLEMENT WEATHER/ EARLY DISMISSAL
• In the event of bad weather (snow, ice, extreme heat), we follow Baltimore
County Public Schools decision for closings and early dismissals
• A two hour delayed opening will cancel the hot lunch program
• Always send in a light snack & drink for NOON dismissal days
ABSENCES
• Please call the office by 10:00am to request work to be sent home.
work will be available for pick up after 3:00pm
• Send in an absent note with your child upon their return
Make up
MONEY/CORRESPONDENCE
• Send EXACT CHANGE or PERSONAL CHECK in an envelope or plastic baggie
with your child’s name & grade
• Any notes sent to school, please write your child’s name on the bottom
