INTRODUCTION
Food Craft Institute, Hoshiarpur is an autonomous society sponsored by the State Government
with an objective to provide quality education in the key operational areas of hotels & hospitality
industry and to empower the students to succeed in today’s dynamic world by integrating
technical knowledge, professional skills and career focused education.
DETAILS OF VARIOUS COURSES OFFERED
Various courses offered by the Institute are of one and half year duration with an objective to
develop artistic talent, creativity, strong people skills and a bold, innovative approach amongst
the aspirants. These courses strike a balance between the skill & knowledge required for
hospitality operations.

The above courses are divided into two integral components. One year theoretical and practical
training is provided in the Institute to provide the requisite knowledge and skills which
employers have identified as necessary for career success. After the Final examinations
conducted by NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR HOTEL MANAGEMENT & CATERING
TECHONOLOGY, students will have to undergo six months Industrial Exposure training in a
catering establishment /hotel of repute to become eligible for the diploma. Diplomas are awarded
by the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Noida, after successful
completion of 6 months training and passing the examination.
BRIEF IN-SIGHT OF THE COURSES
1. DIPLOMA IN FOOD PRODUCTION
The Diploma in Food Production or culinary arts provides students the opportunity to
develop their skills through demonstration followed by hands-on practical application in
professionally-equipped kitchen labs. As part of this dynamic environment, students are
immersed in the culinary/hospitality world, spending a significant time in the kitchen
applying skills and techniques. This program teaches classical cooking methods, in
addition to Indian Regional and International cuisine; Food science & Nutrition, as well
as concepts in food costing. Students find themselves immersed in stimulating as well as
nurturing environments where dedicated, professional chef-instructors pass on their
skills, experience and knowledge. One and Half Year Diploma in food Production is
ideal for those looking for a solid culinary arts education, starting on the path as a
culinary professional in restaurants, hotels, resorts, professional kitchens, and more.
2. DIPLOMA IN BAKERY & CONFECTIONERY
The Diploma in Bakery & Confectionery is aimed for those whose culinary passions
involve the pâtisserie and baking arts, this program can provide a winning recipe of
intensive, practical and comprehensive training and education. This renowned,
professional pastry and baking program covers an array of proficiencies in patisserie and
baking skills including artisan bread production; design and creation of chocolate/sugar
showpieces; classic European pastry production; fine patisserie and more. Students will
learn different styles and experiences of our chef-instructors who encourage each student
to explore and develop his or her own distinct style and creativity.
3. DIPLOMA COURSE IN FRONT OFFICE OPERATION
This course presents a systematic approach to front office procedures by detailing the
flow of business through a hotel, from the reservations process to check out and
settlement. The course also examines the various elements of effective front office
management, paying particular attention to the planning and evaluation of front
operation. This course trains persons to deal with front office activities such as handling
reception, personal management and administration, office management, dealing with
customers and many other interrelated activities. Job in Front office is an excellent
opportunity for fresher from any stream of studies. This, in fact opens doors to the
various industries of chosen interest. This requires a lot of on-job training as well as
experience on various aspects of the chosen industry. The front office jobs are in
abundance and have open and flexible nature. One gets to work separately as well as in
teams.
Good communication skills, pleasing personality and working knowledge of computers
are some key factors of success in Front Office Operations related jobs..
4. DIPLOMA COURSE IN FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICE
This course is for those who wish to learn the skills and knowledge required to work in
Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Bars, Fast Food Joints. Discotheques, Banquets etc. This
course provides wide range of job opportunities in the country and abroad which in turn
ensures good salaries and bright future. Good opportunities as mentioned above are in
store. The course content includes communication skill, hygienic food handling,
banquets, buffets, etc.
5. DIPLOMA COURSE IN HOUSE KEEPING OPERATION
Diploma in Housekeeping Operations will give the practical hands on experience to the
day to day operation of a hotel or resort enabling you to perform all the duties. The
necessary set of skills and knowledge will help learners to emerge as well rounded
accommodation personnel. From this course you will learn Quality customer service,
Workplace Hygiene procedures, Room preparation, Clean Premises and Equipment, plus
much more. Job opportunities in House Keeping range from Hotels, Hostels, Hospitals,
Airlines, Guest Houses, Industrial Houses and Commercial Laundries etc

HOW TO APPLY
Application Form for admission is available on payment of Rs. 500/- (for General
category) & Rs 250/-(for SC/ST & other cstergory)at Administration Office of FCI-
Hoshiarpur. The Form can also be obtained by Speed-Post from the Institute on payment
of Rs. 550/- through Demand Draft drawn in favour of Principal, Food Craft Institute Hoshiarpur payable at Hoshiarpur, or it can be downloaded from this website.
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM
Read these instructions carefully before filling the application form.
1. Complete the application form in all respect. Incomplete forms will not be considered
for admission. Please note down the application Form number for future reference.
2. Fold the form without damage to the photograph. Paste only recent colour photograph.
Please do not staple it.
3. Enclose attested Photo-copies of (1) proof of age (2) +2 pass mark sheet (3)
SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicap Certificate (4) Medical certificate (5) Character
certificate (6) one stamped self address envelop. (Rs. 5/- stamp affixed}
4. Please note that your name, your parent’s/guardians name and your date of birth should
be exactly same as in your matriculation certificate.
5. Deposit/Speed Post the envelope to the following Address:

6. First Term Fees is to be paid at the time of admission in the form of DD only, in favour
of Principal, Food Craft Institute, Hoshiarpur, payable at Hoshiarpur.
CANDIDATES MUST BRING ORIGNAL CERTIFICATES/DOCUMENTS AT THE
TIME OF ADMISSION FOR VERIFICATION.
SELECTION PROCESS
Admission will be strictly on the basis of merit based on percentage of
qualifying examination i.e.10+2. Counseling for admission shall commence
2nd week of July. Schedule for counseling will be displayed on the notice
board and will be up-loaded on the websites. No change in date will be
entertained under any circumstances. In case no seat is available for both the
options a candidate has exercised, seat if any in other course will be offered.
FEES:
The Course Fees is payable in two installments 1st at the time of admission and 2nd in the month
of December each year. The course wise fees structure is placed at annexure “A”.
Feeshas to be paid by Demand draft only, in favour of Principal, Food Craft Institute,
Hoshiarpur. Cash fees are not accepted by the Institute. The applicants are advised to write their
name and address on the reverse of the bank draft.
Incomplete applications forms, and application received after the due date will not be accepted.
Note: Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. No request for
change of department will be entertained, once the fee is paid. Candidates are
advised to fully satisfy themselves about the Course/Choice of department before
paying the fees. No request will be entertained thereafter
REFUNDS
Caution money of Rs.1000/-for each course is refundable after deducting fines, breakages etc.
and to be collected within one year from the date of passing the course. Caution money will be
forfeited if not claimed within one year from the date of passing or leaving the course.

DETAINED & FAILED STUDENTS
Students failing in annual examination will have to appear in the subsequent annual
examination. They may rejoin the course as regular student on payment of full fees, at the
discretion of the Principal, or appear in the subsequent annual examination as an external
candidate on payment of examination fees only. Detained students will have to rejoin as regular
student.
UNIFORM:
You are expected to wear your uniform with pride and make sure that it is
neat and clean at the start of each class. Faculty in-charge of respective course shall
convey the exact specification for the uniforms in class.
STUDENT POLICIES, REGULATIONS, AND CONDUCT
This section will help you become familiar with the FCI’s policies and regulations
governing student life. You have the right to an enjoyable and productive experience at
the college, and these policies and regulations help protect that right.
STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
The Student code of Conduct promotes the necessary order, safety, and security of the
FCI community and safeguards the individual and collective rights of everyone on
campus. Actions by individuals or groups which interfere with the orderly functions of
the FCI or actions the endanger any member of the community will not be tolerated.
CONDUCT: RULES AND REGULATIONS
Violations of the code include, but are not limited to, the behavior outlined below. The
administration may, at its discretion, bring charges against any student who conducts
himself or herself in violation of the FCI’s rules or regulations. Any student found to
have committed the following misconduct is subject to the disciplinary sanctions.
Section 1 Behavior which threatens or endangers the health or safety of oneself or
others, whether actual or implied, or results in personal injury to oneself or others. This
behavior includes, but is not limited to, physical conduct, verbal conduct and threats,
intimidation, harassment hazing.
Section 2 Illegal or unauthorized possession or use of any type of firearms, knives
(except knives specifically required by the FCI for laboratory classes) or possession of
any other weapon or instrument which could be used to inflict injury, or which might
cause a person to believe that he or she may be in danger of being harmed.
Section 3 The possession, solicitation, sale, distribution or use of any illegal drugs by
FCI. Students are advised to refrain the company of anyone using illegal substances.
Section 4 Behavior, on or off campus, which would tend to damage the reputation of
the FCI or its students, or which would tend to cause any injury or hardship to anyone.
Section 5 Attempted or actual theft of FCI property or property of a member of the
service or unauthorized use of FCI property, equipment, facilities, or services.
Section 6 Vandalism, defacement, damage to, or careless use of any part of FCI
premises or the personal property of any member of the college community.
Section 7 Tampering with or damaging any mechanism that is part of the fire
suppression system (fire extinguisher) including willfully, or through negligence. The
violations listed above are very serious, potentially endangering all campus residents.
Thus sanctions can include fines as high as Rs/- 2,000, dismissal from the college.
Section 8 Furnishing false information to the FCI or making false statements or reports
to FCI officials; engaging in forgery, alteration, or improper use of any FCI record,
key(s), identification card, or other document; withholding information a student knew or
reasonably should have known to disclose to the college law.
Section 9 Failure to comply with directions of, or interference with, any FCI official,
faculty or staff member, including the failure to properly identify oneself or to produce an
identification card when requested to do so.
Section 10 Violations of the Professionalism, Uniform, and Hygiene Policy.
Section 11 Unprofessional conduct, including but not limited to, the use of foul
language, insulting behavior, or other personal conduct (including spitting in public
areas, or discarding cigarette butts or litter on the ground, in wooded areas and ponds,
or otherwise not in proper receptacles) which would tend to demean the reputation of
CIA students, staff, faculty, visitors, or guests; failure to honor part-time or volunteer
work commitments to CIA offices or to attend scheduled job interviews arranged
through the Office of Career Services.
Section 12 Participation in a campus activity or demonstration which disrupts the
normal operations of the CIA and infringes upon the rights of other members of the
college community; leading or inciting others to disrupt scheduled and/or normal
activities within any campus building or area; intentional obstruction which unreasonably
interferes with freedom of movement, either pedestrian or vehicular, on campus.
Section 13 Theft or other abuse of computer time or phone service.
Section 14 No candidate will be allowed to do any part time jobs or any other course of
education along with the training. Students will be given opportunity to do outdoor
caterings in the various reputed hotels and catering establishment only. This is a part of
the practical training and students are expected to make full use of the opportunity. No
unauthorized ODC’s will be allowed.
Section 15 As per the examination guidelines of national council for Hotel
Management, a minimum of 75% attendance in aggregate and 70% in individual subject
is mandatory to appear in the examination. Passing marks, completion of training etc
will be intimated by respective faculty in class and through notice board.
PROFESSIONALISM, UNIFORM, AND HYGIENE POLICY
As professionals at Food Craft Institute we are constantly working to enhance the status
of the hospitality industry. Students, faculty staff and all share a common pride in their
work, workplace, and appearance. We have all chosen the hospitality industry as our
vocation. It is an ancient and respected profession. It takes many years of hard work,
training, dedication, and tenacity to become a leader in this Industry, but it takes only a
few moments to dress, act, and think like a professional. The following standards of
conduct are expected of anyone who aspires to be regarded as a professional in the
hospitality industry.
Professionals:
1. Refrain from abusive and foul language;
2. Speak and act without prejudice to race, color, creed, religion, age, gender, disability,
Ethnicity, veteran status, marital status, or sexual orientation;
3. Demonstrate and adhere to ethical business practices, with due respect for customer
And colleagues;
4. Promote understanding and respect for those alcoholic beverages used in the
hospitality industry;
5. Refrain from the abuse of drugs and alcohol;
6. Treat all equipment and property with respect as if personal property;
7. Are polite and courteous to all visitors, peers, and colleagues;
8. Work with a positive attitude;
9. Dedicate themselves to learning;
10. Stay open-minded to the opinions of others;
11. Share knowledge with others;
12. Act reliably and dependably; and
13. Act with honesty and integrity in their interactions will all people.
GENERAL
All codes must be observed in academic buildings, on days the campus is open. All
students at Food Craft Institute Hoshiarpur are expected to dress professionally. The
uniform code set forth for each particular learning atmosphere takes into consideration
hygiene, sanitation, and professionalism. The following are standards that are required
when attending any class:
1. You must be clean-shaven, with sideburns not exceeding the middle of the ear for
men. Beards are not permitted.
2. Mustaches must be neatly trimmed and may not extend below the corner of the lips.
3. Facial jewelry, including jewelry in eyebrows, eyelids, lips, tongue ear, or nose, is not
permitted.
4. Colored or log T-shirts are not permitted.
5. Leather or denim clothing is not permitted.
6. Wallet chains, visible key rings, and straps are not permitted.
7. Hats, other than the chef’s toques, are not to be worn.
8. In all instances, hair must be a natural color, groomed and clean. No hair colors such
as green, blue, or pink, and no outlandish hairstyles such as Mohawk cuts will be
permitted; the Professionalism, Uniform, and Hygiene Committee will review unresolved
hair color issues case by case.
9. Use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited in the Institute campus.
