These will be placed on the altar to be remembered at the weekend and weekday Masses. CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT This week’s special collection provides funding for groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States. Catholic Campaign for Human Development grants improve education, support economic development, and help communities provide housing in low-income neighborhoods. Help us continue to defend human dignity and aid those living on the margins of society. Please give to the CCHD collection. Thank you for your generosity. Christmas tags will be hung on the Giving Tree the weekend of November 29/30. Those who wish to participate are asked to return the wrapped gift with the tag attached to it on the weekend of December 13/14, in order to make distributing easier. These gifts are meant to be given to Our Place; a counseling, prenatal and child care education service cosponsored by Catholic Charities. Other gifts are designated for Seniors from St. Joseph Community Services. Your generosity was overwhelming in past years. ST. Every Thursday, sidewalk counselors offer a better alternative to mothers bringing their teenage daughters to Manchester's abortion facility, Planned Parenthood. Some of the girls are subdued, heads down, and quietly walk into PP as their mothers yell at the counselors and prayer volunteers. The mothers vent their anger at the ones offering true help, but they just want the “problem” to go away. Last Thursday was cold and rainy, but a man walked up Pennacook Street to tell his story to the counselors and volunteers and hopefully let go of the guilt he has been carrying for the past six years. When his girlfriend told him she was pregnant, he said she had to have an abortion. He said, “I'm 51 years old. I can't do this – I'm too old to raise a child.” Then he showed pictures of his six-year-old daughter and proudly said, “She is the spitting image of me. What was I thinking? She is everything to me.” Many times the counselors and volunteers are thanked for being on the sidewalk along with the comment, “I wish someone had been there for me.” Training is available for women and men interested in counseling women considering abortion. For details, contact Cathy Kelley at 206-5306 or send her an email at: ckelley@pennacookpregnancy.org Prayer volunteers from this parish and parishes from all over our Diocese pray outside the Planned Parenthood clinic in Manchester and offer assistance to women unsure about their decision to abort. These stories are their eyewitness accounts. There are 20 to 30 surgical abortions performed every Thursday.
