The High Cost of Valuable Items
(Mat.16:24-28)
Things of Value
(Matthew 16:24-28)
Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to
come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his
cross, and follow Me. "For whoever desires to save
his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My
sake will find it. "For what profit is it to a man if he
gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or
what will a man give in exchange for his soul? "For
the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father
with His angels, and then He will reward each
according to his works. "Assuredly, I say to you, there
are some standing here who shall not taste death till
they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom."
Temporal Things: No Value
(Matthew 6:19-20)
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust destroy and where thieves
break in and steal; "but lay up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust
destroys and where thieves do not break in and
steal.
Neglecting Things of Value
(Hebrews 2:1-3) Therefore we must give the more
earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we
drift away. For if the word spoken through angels
proved steadfast, and every transgression and
disobedience received a just reward, how shall we
escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at
the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was
confirmed to us by those who heard Him,
Value Assessment
Items may have value because of exclusivity.
You are an exclusive item:
In this the love of God was manifested toward us,
that God has sent His only begotten Son into the
world, that we might live through Him.
(1 John 4:9)
Value Assessment
Items may have value because they are
unique/special.
You are unique/special:
So God created man in His own image; in the image
of God He created him; male and female He
created them. (Genesis 1:27)

Items may have value because they are
unique/special.
You are unique/special:
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully
made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul
knows very well. (Psalms 139:14)

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully

The High Value of
Being a Christian (Saved)
Consider the alternative:
"And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is
better for you to enter life lame, rather than
having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire
that shall never be quenched-- "where 'Their
worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched.'”
(Mark 9:45-46)
The High Value of
Being a Christian (Saved)
Consider the Rarity of Salvation:
"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and
broad is the way that leads to destruction, and
there are many who go in by it. "Because narrow
is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to
life, and there are few who find it.
(Matthew 7:13-14)
The High Value of
Being a Christian (Saved)
Consider that being religious is not enough:
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter
the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My
Father in Heaven. Many will say to Me in that day,
'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name,
cast out demons in Your name, and done many
wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to
them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who
practice lawlessness!'” (Matthew 7:21-23)
The High Value of
Being a Christian (Saved)
Even some of those who are in His kingdom (the church)
will not be saved on the day of judgment:
"The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will
gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and
those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them
into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and
gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth
as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has
ears to hear, let him hear!” (Matthew 13:41-43)
Valuing Our Salvation: A Serious
Matter to Consider
“For the time has come for judgment to begin at the
house of God; and if it begins with us first, what
will be the end of those who do not obey the
gospel of God? Now ‘If the righteous one is
scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the
sinner appear?’” (1 Peter 4:17-18 NKJV)
Those Who Value Their Salvation Will
Show It By Glorifying God
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of
the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from
God, and you are not your own? For you were
bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your
body and in your spirit, which are God's.
(1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Those Who Value Their Salvation Will
Show It By Growing in Knowledge
but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now
and forever. Amen. (2 Peter 3:18 NKJV)
Those Who Value Their Salvation Will Show It
Through Living Their Faith & Evangelizing
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but
one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you
may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the
prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to
obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable
crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty.
Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I
discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest,
when I have preached to others, I myself should
become disqualified. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NKJV)
