The following requirements must be met before a candidate can be admitted to EPP:

 Declare the teacher education major you wish to pursue and make sure the Registrar’s Office has this
major on file for you
 Submit this application to the Office of Educator Preparation (Stevens 515) by the due date
 Complete all General Studies coursework (students who are lacking only one class from the General
Studies component may be admitted to EPP as long as all other requirements have been met)
 Complete the following courses with a grade of “C” or better:
 ED 292 Preprofessional Seminar and Laboratory Experience
 COM 201 Fundamentals of Speech
 EN 111 First-Year Composition I
 EN 112 First-Year Composition II
 All Professional Studies coursework attempted
 All Teaching Field coursework attempted
 Successfully complete an interview with the teacher education panel with a passing grade
 Attain suitability clearance from the Alabama State Department of Education based on your ASBI/FBI
fingerprints
 Pass all three (3) parts of the Basic Skills Exam (Reading, Writing, Math)
 Maintain GPA requirements:
 2.5 or better on UNA hours attempted
 2.5 or better on all work attempted
 2.5 or better on Teaching Field coursework attempted
 3.0 or better on Professional Studies coursework attempted
For Elementary Education Majors:
 All requirements above plus
 3.0 or better on overall Education Component
Education Component = Professional Studies + Teaching Field
Additional Information
 Applications will be reviewed and audited by the Certification Officer.
 You will be notified of your admission status after final grades have been posted for the semester.
Students may not pre-register for courses requiring admission to EPP. After receiving formal notification
of admission to the program, you may go through regular registration or late registration.
 If admitted to EPP, your admission status may be revoked if you fall below the required standards,
including (but not limited to) unacceptable disposition ratings, unacceptable grade point average,
revocation of background clearance, or inactivity in the program.
