What is a fraction? How can I
represent fractions of different sizes?

What is a fraction?
• Fraction: a number that names part of a whole or
part of a group
• Numerator: the part of a fraction which tells how
many parts of the whole are being counted
• Denominator: the part of a fraction which tells
how many equal parts there are in the whole
