1. DSI Heritage
One of the India’s leading educational institutions, a front-runner in the field of education today,
Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI) is run under the aegis of the Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peetha
Trust, in Bangalore- described as the Silicon Valley of India which has a legacy of more than 50
years.
Our institutions are characterized by the quality of education across a broad range of disciplines
from pre-university courses to post-graduation and doctoral programs covering Engineering,
Dental Sciences, Biological Sciences Arts, Commerce, Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Allied

1. Session on Village Empowerment Programme
Dr. Lingaraj; a very well versed and experienced person kick starts a session on village

empowerment programme-an innovative teaching methodology any business school has
adopted. Through his motivational talk helped the students to comprehend the way to transform
the rural India , starting from creating and protecting water resources
2. Employability Certificate Programme
A 150 hours training commences in the first semester MBA which enables the students to hone
their skills and competencies which are required by corporate world.

3.Induction Programme
Short intensive course is designed for the students enrolled in DSBA so that they could meet the
assumed knowledge requirements and narrow the gap between higher secondary school/college
and the university studies and prepare the students for the intellectual challenges of University
education.

3. CIL [Centre for Innovation & Leadership] Training
Today, lack of competence in soft skill is marked as one of the reasons of poor rate of
employability of graduates. Soft skills training makes the individual aware of his / her hidden
capabilities and to refine it for the overall development and success of the individuals.
The Trainers from CIL held a day long activity based training sessions on Inter personal skills,
Placement & Interview skills for the students of DSBA to understand its importance.
4.‘Stock Mind Session’
‘Stock Mind’ helps students develop critical thinking, risk taking, analyzing, and decision
making and the competition encourages students to learn the nuances of the stock market by
using virtual money in real market situations and thereby eliminating market risks.
Ms. Suniti Varma from ICICI direct Centre for Financial Learning highlighted about the virtual
trading platform-a replica of ICICIdirect.com, spoke on the live market feeds, risk-free trading
with virtual money and also enlightened the students about the contest, the grand prize and the
benefits of participation- it is beneficial to students from all streams as it can enhance their skills
to excel in the corporate world.

5. Presto’13
DSBA turned on one more leaf in the calendar of events with the resonance of assiduousness and
accomplishments in the colossal field of education when in a bid to bring the glamour of youths
and colours of culture together on a single platform, a cultural theme show ‘Presto 2013’ was
organized for the first time ever . A cultural extravaganza was put up by the under graduate and
post graduate students of DSBA which comprised of songs, mimicry, solo and group dances
with the stamp of novelty that transfixed the spectators and filled them with wonderment. An
exuberant display of talents – a feast for the eyes and ears -was the main attraction of the day.
The audience was enthralled and wanted encore.
6.Quiz
General knowledge quizzes are great because they are just what their name suggests: quizzes
that provide fun, promote knowledge at the same time, increase information, makes one feel that
one doesn’t spend time for nothing in contrary. Besides, it evokes emotion too. Hence, time and
again at DSBA students are egged on to participate in such competitions wherein throughout the
conduct of the competition friendly spirit and camaraderie is abundantly seen.

6. Freshers’Day
It was the day that was filled with excitement, joy, music, happiness and unlimited fun. The
second and the final year students of the college welcomed the first year students. The ceremony
saw many solo dances and solo songs, duet and group dances by both the juniors as well as
seniors which astounded and mesmerized the audience. Mr. and Miss Fresher were also selected.
In the end, the seniors joined the juniors together on the rocking dance floor in a bond of trust,
friendship and tied memories that would last forever.
Principle 2 Values:
We will incorporate into our academic activities and curricula the values of global social
responsibility as portrayed in international initiatives such as the United Nations Global
Compact.

The Centre for Individual and Organizational Development(CILD)Objectives:
 Help students to identify their potential by developing capability, competence and
confidence.
 Help students to make positive change in behaviors by understanding the connections
and synergies.
 Help students to use their skills in Managerial and Leadership Development and
interpersonal relationships to facilitate the Development of organizations they are
employed.
 To make students be innovative, creative and to be problem solving individuals.
1. Cleanliness Drive
Students of DSBA participated in the Cleanliness and Awareness Drive organized by the
International Art of Living Centre, Bangalore. The zealous DSBA students initiated the
cleanliness drive with volunteers of Art of Living.
It started from the college and traversed through Kanakapura Road and Udayapura with the
students picking the scattered rubbish and plastic wastes.
2. ‘The Art of Living- Happiness Program.’
A three day Art of Living ‘Happiness Program’ was conducted at DSBA by the Principal, Brig
(Retd.) Dr. Sandes in August 2014. He taught the faculty and the MBA students to discover their
unlimited power and freedom - not as a concept, but as a direct experience. He emphasized that
within us lies vast, untapped possibilities waiting to be discovered and the solution to finding it
lies in Sudarshan Kriya.

3. Stress Management Techniques
In a fast paced age where stress and depression are widespread, the toll of these on physical and
mental health can be extremely high. Hence, with the mission to help students get rid of stress
and find inner peace Prof. Siva Selvi, who is proficient at yoga and a faculty at DSBA taught
relaxation technique, meditation and yoga asana to the students’ .At the end of the session the
students felt charged, exhilarated and experienced an embodiment of peace.
4. Workshop on Creative De-stressing
Mr. Raj Bhandare, CEO Nirvana Arts Private Ltd. addresses social issues through the medium of
art. The workshop conducted by him combined traditional approaches with new, effective stress
reduction exercises through creative expression. Emphasis was laid on de-cluttering and
eliminating chaos as it leads to distressing and increased personal energy which results in
efficiency and effectiveness.
5. Ethnic Day
DSBA is a diverse organisation that values and recognizes skills, background, attitudes,
experiences and differences in people. An encouragement of diversity can even benefit a society.
On the ‘Ethnic Day’ students came in traditional attires showcasing the culture and tradition of
the places they come from thus showing the concept of unity in diversity and a peaceful
coexistence without a hint of any differences.

Industrial interaction is very important as far as the practical knowledge is concerned and it is
prime requirement of the time to have practical insight of the present corporate world .Industrial
visits provide crucial information about the organization, and it also enables the future managers
to understand the internal working environment.

2.Outbound Training
An outbound training is a fabulous way of transcending the routines, stresses, demands of
everyday life. It is an ideal stress buster. The games and activities conducted during the course of
the programme improve self-reliance, team work, trust, concentration and communication skills.
Students at DSBA are given ample opportunities to take part in such outdoor adventure camps
wherein the students return from the camp totally rejuvenated, are out of their comfort zones and
discover latent aspects about their personality, conquered their fears and inhibitions and gathered
a sense of accomplishment. Most importantly, they get their adrenaline kick and stimulating
break from the mundane routine life.

3. Global Captivation Programme.
A Global Captivation Programme [GCP] is being conducted by DSBA in any international
destination to bridge a gap between classroom lessons and practices in another country. This will
enhance the students’ understanding of ever changing global business landscape. Students will
have to exhibit the learning through structured presentation and certificate will be awarded after
evaluation.
In 2014, students got a chance to visit the Sunway University at Selangor, Malaysia. They

participated in the seminar in the University on leadership and International business. This
enabled the students to understand the methodology followed there and they also got a firsthand
feel of management education in foreign soil. The students were taken around the campus too.
The love and warmth with which they were welcomed was commendable and enriched their
experience.
4. Technology Enabled Education
Students are provided a tablet to enhance the technology enabled education. The platform
provides the online interaction with faculty members, online classroom notes and other advanced
learning mechanisms. The Wi-Fi enabled campus supports the access to information for the
learning purpose.
5. ‘Impact of Budget 2015 on GDP’-an Analysis
“Impact of budget on GDP" was the competition topic for the DSBA students. GDP is a gauge
to
measure
the
health
of
country's
economy...
The students spoke at length about the challenges faced by Indian economy, reforms in the
manufacturing and service sector, infrastructure development, state of economy , emphasis of
budget on skilled India-made in India., factors responsible for fall in GDP , factors to overcome
the decline in GDP. Some comparisons were drawn to the previous year’s budget too. To drive
home the point, during analysation the students also gave their proposals and suggestions that
could help increase in GDP.
Competitions are a good way of inspiring students to excel in something, keep themselves
abreast with the current events. It helps in the entire wellness and development of the student and
it serves as a chance for learning to be put into use. Ultimately, it helps mold students into
successful individuals.

Principle 4 Research:
We will engage in conceptual and empirical research that advances our understanding about the
role, dynamics, and impact of corporations in the creation of sustainable social, environmental
and economic value.
DSBA- Management Development and Research Centre (MDRC) Objectives:
To continuously improvise, innovate and improve management practices through research and
trainings. The expert team of DSBA MDRC conducts research works for Government, NGOs,
and various other organizations. The research works includes sectoral researches, micro and
macro researches, opportunity analysis for entrepreneurs, sustainability researches, product life
cycle analysis to name a few.
1. International Conference
With the aim of conducting innovative research in different areas of management and pitching
for greater use of research for creating a sustainable RUBAN society, Dayananda Sagar Business
Academy Bangalore (DSBA) took the first of a kind initiative to conduct two day International
Conference on "Challenges and Opportunities for Developing Sustainable RUBAN Society”.
The conference gave a platform to corporate, academia and researchers to put forth their
initiatives, ideas and experiences for a better tomorrow. ‘Rubanisation’ as the word suggests, is a
way forward for both Urban and rural development focusing on co-existence and to consider the
differences in how they reflect the needs and aspirations in different areas.
Eminent personalities addressed the gathering.Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji, Founder, Art of Living
International Foundation, Bangalore , Ms. Jagdeep K. Rai, a senior training consultant at SIBM,
Malaysia, Mr. Madhusoodan; a Special Correspondent at Times of India, Bangalore. The plenary
session speakers were: Mr. Paul Kronenberg, Trustee, Kanthari Foundations, Kerala, Ms. Siti
Roha Ramli, Govt consultant and trainer-SIBM, Malaysia and Mr. B.Prabhakar Rao, Trustee at
Sri Sri Institute of Agriculture Sciences & Technology, Bangalore., Mr. Kanapathy, HR
Director, Mydin Holdings, Mr. DhanakumarV.G., Director, FIIPM and Mr. Madan Padaki- MD
& CEO-Head Held High Services Pvt. Ltd.The panel members were Dr. Sunita Maheshwari,
Director-Tele Radiology, Ms. Sneha Bhandare, CEO-Nirvana Arts. Pvt.Ltd, Dr. Mathew
Manimala, Chairperson, OBHRM, IIM-B, Mr. Madan Padaki, MD & CEO-Head Held High
Services Pvt. Ltd and Mr. Sanjeeth Hegde, Partner –Banana IP. An art masterpiece on the theme
was made by Mr. Raj Bhandare–Founder, Nirvana Arts and unveiled at the venue.

2.Sales and awareness creation of Vaidyaratnam healthcare
A marketing research study was conducted by the MBA students to understand and assess the
users of Ayurveda services and create awareness of Vaidyaratnam Healthcare among the people.
A feedback was collected for the brand and submitted to Vaidyaratnam.
Cash prizes were given by the Director, Vaidyaratnam to the students who had made the best
presentations.
3.Innovation-a key to successful entrepreneurship
DSBA fostered an innovative way to make MBA students learn about start-up business concepts
and think out of the box by inciting them to launch an entrepreneurial venture for just one day.

The seed capital was relatively small –a mere two hundred rupees which could be pooled in by
the eight team members or taken from an angel-investor. The students came up with innovative
ideas to do business for just a day. Amidst cut throat competition at the end of the day no team
suffered losses. Some had broken even and a few teams ended making huge profits.
4. Management Fest
The gamut of challenging events featured in the management week adhered to the paradigm of
‘learning made fun’. It was aimed at providing a common platform for the fresher’s and seniors
to exhibit their talents and show their true potential. Vibrant and innovative events were
organized in the week long fest and students participated with great zest.

Principle 5 Partnership:
We will interact with managers of business corporations to extend our knowledge of their
challenges in meeting social and environmental responsibilities and to explore jointly effective
approaches to meeting these challenges.

Also to make the students aware the Socio-Economic environment and how business
houses connect their resources in helping social development by various projects and
programmes.
1. Village empowerment programme
DSBA conducted for the ‘First time in the history of any management institute’ a ‘Village
Empowerment Programme’ in August 2014.The III Semester MBA students, as a part of their
curriculum, had to undergo ‘Village Empowerment Programme’ wherein they carried out a
research covering economic, education and health care aspects of the adopted villages. It also
aimed at increasing corporate involvement in rural development.
At the end of the twenty day programme a report was made by the students which covered the
following areas: (a) Plans for development on education, healthcare and economic aspects (b)
Steps and suggestions for its implementation. The programme was taken up at Tharalu and
Somanahalli villages on the outskirts of Bangalore and every year villages will be adopted by the
institute. Each team of students was mentored by expert management faculty of the institute and
specialists from the corporate world.

Principle 6 Dialogue:
We will facilitate and support dialogue and debate among educators, students, business,
government, consumers, media, and civil society organisations and other interested groups and
stakeholders on the critical issues related to global social responsibility and sustainability
DSBA Project Based Learning Centre (PBLC)-Objectives
Project Based Learning Centre is to orient students in practical and operational issues of a
business unit (through small project assignments in Industry, Banks, Financial Institutions,
other potential Employer of different sectors, NGOs, etc.)
Also to familiarize them with various problems that competitive business environment poses.


One of our students -Ms.Swati Bondia pursuing MBA IV Semester at DSBA is a
young entrepreneur and founder of Om Shanti Traders, a Bangalore based social
venture supporting the poor and underprivileged sections to improve their lifestyle and
thus reducing the economic gap between the various layers of society.
She was selected among the best 6 participants across the world and the only one
among the SAARC Countries from India for the Base of Pyramid market entry
challenge at Colombia, the program which is a part of Colombia Govt. budget to
eradicate the BoP segment of the country.

She has received many accolades so far .She was awarded the Sevak of the year Award
2014 for selflessly working to bring a change in the society and recently, the winner of
the Outstanding Young Person of the year 2015.

Future perspectives
As one of the Premium Business Schools under the prestigious Dayananda Sagar Institutions,
Bangalore and an Institution of higher learning DSBA is committed to upholding the UN backed
Principles of Responsible Management Education which will help create holistic individuals
which is the need of the hour.
The journey of empowerment of villages has just begun and we aim to reach the ultimate goal of
empowerment of villages not only regionally but also at the national level.
We will continue to promote faculty research, and intend to organize conferences to create an
ambience for intellectual thinking and academic interaction to mould future leaders.
