Humberside Police Security Update
Tony Smith updated the attendees with a brief description of the current terrorist threat to the UK. The level
remains at SEVERE and in part is due to returning jihadists from conflict zones in Syria and Iraq, and is related to the
terrorist groups of Al-Qaida and ISIL.
These groups maintain a capability to attract Jihadi recruits from Europe which in turn increases the threat to the EU
Regarding Irish Related Terrorism, the threat from Dissident Republicans remains at MODERATE to GB, and the
threat from PIRA remains at LOW
Re the threat from foreign intelligence services, both Russia and China stand at SUBSTANTIAL , and the cyber threat
from them remains at SEVERE.
As an addition Tony offered an open invite to a Counter Terrorist Awareness Week presentation at the Seamans
Mission, Immingham Dock, 13:00 hrs 8th June 2015. This will last for around an hour, and related to Ports activity.
Anyone wishing to attend should email ctsa@humberside.pnn.police.uk regarding numbers.
Humberside Fire & Rescue Update
Terry Sellers gave an update. There are no COMAH incidents to report. A number of recycling sites have been set up
in the region and are a concern as they are stockpiling material that poses a fire hazard. If there is any impact on the
Humber Bank sites it will be feedback at the next meeting. Industrial climate will be monitoring the FBU with regards
to last week’s election, they are unsure on where this may go.
