Launched Clubcard in 1995 and overtook Sainsburys Late 1990’s Overseas development commenced In 2006 we started the expansion into America with Fresh and Easy stores Sales last year were 51.8 billion Tesco Ireland 1997: Tesco PLC acquired the retailing and supply chain of Associated British Foods in Ireland – Better known as the Quinnsworth and Crazy Prices retail chain There were 8,300 employees across 75 stores. 1998: Introduced Computers for Schools – since then donated over €10 million of computer equipment to Irish schools, Clubcard was introduced and became Ireland’s leading loyalty programme 2000: Introduced Grocery Home Shopping – the first online shopping service in Ireland, Save as you Earn was introduced for staff 2001: First Tesco Ireland Charity of the Year Programme – The Irish Cancer Society - since then we have helped raise over €6 million for Irish charities.
