Research question: what are the best ways to avert child kidnapping?
Source 1 (work citied in MLA format?)
Levin, Jack. "3 Ways to Avert Child Kidnappings." USA TODAY May 10 2013.
ProQuest. Web. 19 Nov. 2014.
Summary:
The USA today newspaper explains ways to prevent child kidnapping. The first lady
Michelle Obama spoke about the Cleveland kidnapping case for parent’s worst nightmare. Three
female victims were found a decade after they disappeared is truly reason for celebration and
hope. She said but three keys areas deserve more attention to try to prevent such kidnapping
from happening in the future. Levin argues that up to 800,000 children go missing every year,
and this is big problem and needs to put stop to.
Assess:
Jack Levin is the Brudnick Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Northeastern
University and co-author of Extreme Killing. Levin has also written a book called Serial Killers
and Sadistic Murders – Up Close and Personal. (Prometheus Books, 2008). He teaches courses
in prejudice and violence. I believe jack is creditable because of his work filed in sociology and
criminology and the fact he teaches prejudice and violence.

Reflect:
This source will be helpful to me because it answers my question, which will help me
with my research paper. My view on this source made me understand that kidnapping is
something series and there are ways to prevent from happening to our loved ones.

Miltenberger, Raymond G., and Laurie A. Olsen. "Abduction Prevention Training: A
Review Of Findings And Issues For Future Research." Education & Treatment Of
Children 19.1 (1996): 69. Academic Search Premier. Web. 8 Nov. 2014.
Summery:
The authors say they reviewed the research evaluating procedures for teaching
abduction prevention skills to children. They first described the types of skills that were
taught and the types of abduction situations and assessment strategies that were
utilized to evaluate training. Next, they described the individual and group training
procedures and their outcomes. They argue that the research demonstrates that
children can learn abduction prevention skills through behavioral skills training
procedures, and that individual training is generally more effective than group training.
Following the review of existing research, they discussed important issues and
directions for future research in this area.
Assess:
Raymond Miltenberger is a professor in the department of child and family
studies and the director of the applied behavior analysis programs at the university of
south Florida. Laurie A. Olsen is a researcher, writer and provider of leadership
development and technical assistance on educational equality. Also she is Ph.D. is the
director of the sobrato early academic literacy (SEAL) initiative in the San Jose school
districts. The authors gave many facts to support there their point. it is very reliable
aspects
Reflect: This source will be helpful because it answers my question. It is also a reliable
source. This source gives many examples for people to understand. It does go into great
examples and it has important research behind. It is useful

Bromberg, Daniel S., and Blair T. Johnson. "Behavioral Versus Traditional Approaches
To Prevention Of Child Abduction." School Psychology Review 26.4 (1997): 622.
Academic Search Premier. Web. 8 Nov. 2014.
Summary:
The authors say traditional prevention approaches, including discussion of
"stranger danger," child lures, and escaping from abductors is presented. They talked
about the shortcomings of traditional approaches in contrast to behavioral approaches
to prevention of child abduction are revealed. Behavioral approaches use instruction,
modeling, behavioral rehearsal, corrective feedback, and practice until criterion
performance is reached. Directions for future research are suggested, and implications
for public policy and professional practice are discussed. Because they said behavioral
skill training has been demonstrated to be superior to standard abduction prevention
programs, they said it seems prudent that children undergo behavioral skills training.

This source is reliable because it comes from experts. Daniel S. Bromberg, MS,
is a PhD candidate in School Psychology at Syracuse University. His research interests
include behavioral approaches to the prevention of child abduction and sexual
victimization and factors influencing adults' attributions of responsibility in child sexual
abuse cases. Blair T. Johnson, PhD, is Associate Professor of Psychology and Director
of Graduate Studies in Social Psychology at Syracuse University. His research interests
include social influence and the development of scholarly tools for research synthesis.
The length is great as well.
Reflect:
This source is helpful to my research even though I wish if they could provide more
information, because it’s only one page but less detail. But I can defiantly use it for my essay. It
is also reliable source.
