Welcome to Family & Consumer Sciences Advanced
Foods and Nutrition class! This course is designed to
be a continuation of Foods and Nutrition and assist
you in principles related to food preparation. It helps
you in making critical decisions about food, which
contributes to health and well-being. Laboratory
instruction is included as an application process.
Practical problems addressed relate to attitudes
toward foods, nutrition facts, special health concerns
and diets, management of food resources,
preparation skills, food safety, sanitation and careers
in nutrition and food service. An emphasis on careers
related to food service and nutrition (i.e. catering,
dietician, and other culinary careers.) Leadership
development will be provided through the Family,
Career and Community Leaders of America.
Classroom Management
In order for each student to feel safe and comfortable in my
classroom, a positive and respectful attitude is expected of all
students, this includes respecting others’ thoughts, work, feelings,
and individuality. If a student does not demonstrate positive
behavior, I will visit with him/her and we will try to resolve the issue
together. If this proves unsuccessful, students will call their parents
at home or work and explain their behavior. The third offense will
be disciplinary action in IC-Mr. Frasure or Ms. Martin. Any negative
behavior that continues will result in a conference with the student,
parent(s)/guardian(s), the teacher and Mr. Frasure or Ms. Martin.

What happens if I turn in an assignment late?
Work not completed and turned in by the assigned date is
considered late. If a student is absent on the date work is due, the
assignment is due the first day the student returns to school.
COMPLETED LATE WORK will only receive partial credit (70% of
the assignment total). INCOMPLETE LATE WORK will not be
graded and will result in a zero for the assignment.
