1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 48-R-7 A Resolution to Support Passage of Ohio House Bill 201 Levi Cramer (for himself, Annie Greer, Michael Arato, Braden Poe, and Brandon Weisman) introduced the following resolution to steering whereas it passed unanimously. * * * Whereas the Undergraduate Student Government represents all undergraduate students at The Ohio State University, and Whereas “1,825 college students between the ages of 18 and 24 die each year from alcohol related unintentional injuries”1, and Whereas 599,000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 receive unintentional injuries each year while under the influence of alcohol2, and Whereas Ohio House Bill 201 would create a Good Samaritan Policy for the State of Ohio, and Whereas a Good Samaritan Policy would grant amnesty to underage persons who have been drinking if the only reason underage drinking was discovered by a law enforcement officer was due to a request for medical assistance or a request for law enforcement assistance, and Whereas a study has shown that the passage of Good Samaritan policies increases the number of requests for assistance, but not the number of alcohol related incidents3, and Whereas The Ohio State University, Miami University, The University of Cincinnati, and many other universities around the country currently have a Good Samaritan Policy in place, and Whereas the passage of House Bill 201 would make off campus socializing safer for all students; Therefore, Let it Be Resolved that it is the opinion of the student body at The Ohio State University that the Ohio General Assembly should enact House Bill 201.
