Career History:
2013 – Present – BAE Systems Rigger Level 2 / Crane Operator
Working as part of a small team of Riggers involved in the construction ship build of HM Prince of
Wales Aircraft Carrier, attending a toolbox talk before the start of each shift, working inside the
vessel in open and confined spaces planning and performing lifts, using equipment such as beam
clamps, chain blocks, slings and shackle’s to move pipework into place for pipefitters and welders
to work on, assisting other tradesmen around the vessel with anything they need brought into or out
of compartments, slinging and banking loads, operating 100/400t overhead crane moving loads on
and off the landing platform of various decks, following strict health and safety rules throughout
2013 –2013 GE Oil and Gas - Mechanical Fitter / Rigger (Subsea)
Manufacturing Subsea Wellheads (xmas trees) for a variety of companies such as BP, MAERSK,
EXXON, SHELL, ESSO and others, following drawings and identifying parts to be fitted and tested
through different stages, fitting valves to Master valve block and fitting framework using hand tools
and hydraulic torqueing equipment following specific torque procedures ,Slinging and Banksman ,
Rigging duties ,using chain blocks , slings and other rigging equipment to fit various components of
the tree, involved in tandem lifts and moving loads of up to 50 tonnes around the workshop
operating overhead gantry crane , carrying out risk assessments, writing and following a lift plan
before every lift
2012 -2012 - Ospreys ltd – Rigger / Deck operative
Duties included carrying out deck operations, berthing of sea barges including loading ploughs and
various equipment onto offshore Vessels. Rope, wire, seamanship and tug evolutions. Working
within a team or alone with safety number working under LOLER and PUWER regulations slinging
and rigging of pipework using various rigging methods and techniques using a variety of rigging
and heavy lifting equipment
2008 -2012 - HM Royal Navy – Weapons Technician - Able Rate 1
As a Weapons Technician, My job was day to day maintenance on the ship’s weapons systems,
including missiles, guns and anti-submarine torpedoes; most of the time I would be working close
in confined spaces. I would also work alongside a Chief or Petty Officer, helping with maintenance
on various electronic equipment on board .When my ship was not at sea I would be part of a small
team carrying out repairs on other warships. As an Able Rate I learnt a variety of Seamanship skills
which helped me adapt to life at sea, I also had a lot of intense survival in damage control and fire
fighting , other Training includes Boat transfer, Helicopter landing operations, re-fuel at sea
operations, rigging and slinging of heavy loads
2005 – 2008 - Nissan Manufacturing UK - Mechanical Fitter
Assembly on Nissan vehicles, fitting interior, positioned spot welding and fitting outer panels, weld
inspection when required, basic electronics, using air tools for bolting and torque, minor repairs on
vehicles damaged during production
