The County Governing Body (p.477 - 478)
The governing body of a county is its county commission, whose members are elected by the county voters. County commissioners can pass ordinances and resolutions.
Explain each of these fully!
Ordinance: reasonable laws regarding local property and affairs. These laws establish a new recreation program, a traffic law, or other policy of the county.
Resolution: Informal statements expressing the commission’s opinion on a public matter.

Mayor-Council with a Weak Mayor
Compare and Contrast the following forms of government.
Weak Mayor Council
Mayor recommends ordinances and appoints department heads with council approval. Council decided on policies and makes laws.
Strong Mayor Council
Mayor has strong executive power, an administrative assistant, can veto council legislation, etc. Council has limits on their power.
Mayor can preside over council meetings, but has no administrative power.
Council decides on laws and policy. City Manager appointed to run admin items.
Special Purpose Governments (p.484-485)
Define Special District: Small government units set up by the legislature or by a city or county ordinance for a special purpose.
Give 3 examples of Special Districts or authorities.
