EVENT SUMMARY
LearningLeaders wants to continually expose members of the Shanghai
debate community to learning opportunities of the highest quality.
Sixteen LearningLeaders students will have the opportunity to travel to
San Francisco, California for one week to compete in a debate and public
speaking competition, the 2016 California Invitational. The California
Invitational is in its 43rd year of competition and is one of the most
prestigious and popular debate events in the U.S.
More information on the event here:

PARTICIPANTS
As the California Invitational is a selective competitive tournament,
coaches will select the team that will best represent our program and
Shanghai.
Thus, the application below, debate experience, and past results of
competitors will be the most important determinant in team selection.
Additional factors in the team selection process may be tenure with the
program, age, and future potential development.
At the event, students will compete in teams, though for the purposes of
this application, they should apply individually.

multiple rounds in individual events.

camps will be on competition preparation. These camps are at an
additional cost but discounted for those traveling to UC Berkeley.
Each three-day preparation camp will include 12 hours of coaching and
training, specifically geared towards the 2016 Berkeley Competitive
Travel Trip. The camp tuition is RMB 1500 for Travel Team Members
