Karolina Wida 5-K Leonardo da Vinci’s Early Life Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15th,1452 in Florence, Italy. His parents were Piero da Vinci and his mother was a peasant girl named Caterina. For the first four years of his life he lived with his mother. Later in 1457 he lived with his father. His father had married another woman by then, named Albiera di Giovanni Amadori. When Leonardo was eleven his stepmother died. Then two years later his father had married another woman. In his father’s house lived his grandparents, his uncle and his family, and his other Uncle Francesco in Florence. Leonardo was an apprentice for Verrochio. At 17, he met Benedetto Aritmetico, a scholar and mathematician. Leonardo’s Biography Leonardo loved painting plants, rocks, and formations. His father noticed his talent and made him a special room to paint. He studied the characteristics of anything he painted. He worked for the Medici family who were a noble family. In 1469 he met Paolo del Pozzo Toscanelli. On 1472 his name was put in the Red Book of Painters of Florence. Leonardo da Vinci left Florence around 1482 for Milan. On 1496 he met Fra Luca Pacioli,a mathematics professor. Later in 1498 he completed the Last Supper. Leonardo had been awarded land on 1499 near Porta Vercellina. So in 1499 he left Milan with Pacioli. On 1500 he returned back to Florence. Later on 1504 Piero da Vinci died. He went back to Milan four years later. In 1511 he worked with Marc Antonio della Forre and they did anatomic research. The French lost Milan on 1512. Leonardo da Vinci died May 2,1519. Leonardo’s Most Famous Painting One of da Vinci’s most famous painting was the “Mona Lisa.” He started painting it at the year of 1503. Then he kept painting it until his death on 1519.
