COURSE DESCRIPTION:
¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! This is an introductory course to learning the Spanish language similar to first
semester Spanish 1 at the high school level. Throughout the class you will be learning how to speak the Spanish
language as well as understand the different cultures present in the Spanish speaking world. There will be a
large emphasis on the use of the target language, Spanish, as well as technology to develop your skills of
listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Learning a language takes a lot of practice, repetition, studying, and
dedication. ¡Vámonos!
This course has the potential to be a dual credit course. This means that at the end of the first semester of 7th
grade we will make a decision if learning Spanish is something you would like to continue into 8th grade to gain
high school credit. If this decision is made, your 7th grade Spanish grade will be reflected on your high school
transcript as your first semester Spanish 1 grade. As your teacher, I am committed to this process with you. If you
are looking towards continuing Spanish in 8th grade, please keep track of your grade from the beginning of the
year and be sure it is one you would be proud to display on your high school transcript.

CLASSWORK VS. HOMEWORK:



Class time is spent learning and using the language through stories, games, songs, and more! Homework
is used for reinforcement. Homework is assigned every Tuesday and Thursday. It is due the next
day(unless otherwise specified).
Homework is always written on the board in class and posted on Skyward and Weebly.
All assignments, whether written or on-line, are due by the beginning of class on the due date.
Afterwards, they are considered LATE. Late work is worth half-credit as it should still be completed.

There will be A LOT of on-line assignments this year using the on-line Supersite. If needed, plan to come
in during my office hours or advisory to use a computer in the school if one is not available at home.

I WILL supply you with a physical textbook however many assignments will be completed online.
