General Meeting Minutes

PRESIDENT REPORT / VICE PRESIDENT REPORT (Justin Richardson)
 Dartmouth College inter-graduate school meeting
o Working to arrange a meeting with all the stakeholders from Geisel Student
Government, Tuck Student Government, and GSC
 Meet the new Dartmouth president: 10:00-11:00am this Saturday, January 12 for
donuts and coffee on campus

GRADUATE STUDIES REPORT (Kerry Landers)
 Need one volunteer from every department to write letters to alumni in their program

ACTIVITIES REPORT (Gilbert Rahme, Lisa Jackson)
 Winter Semi-Formal is coming up on Saturday, February 2
o Sober Monitor and Set-up sign-ups were passed around
o Hanover Inn Status
 Representatives voted on what food options they preferred
 It will be a full cash bar
 First 50 people that attend who bring 3 cans of food for Upper Valley
Haven will receive one free drink ticket (coordinated effort with Grad Relief
Team)
ACADEMIC REPORT (Rich Lopez)
 Interdepartmental Tea to bring students from all departments together in an informal
setting
FINANCE CHAIR REPORT (Adrienne Perkins)
 Finance Report
o Waiting on a few forms and payments from different clubs/groups
o $1789 still remains to be handed out to funding request groups
SECRETARY REPORT (Yash R. Patankar)
 Public Transportation – one of the longstanding issues within the community
o Email Yash to learn more and help out as part of the Action team
STUDENT LIFE REPORT (Ronald Bucca)
 Results of the GRT food drive
o Congratulations to PBS for the most cans
 Dental and Vision Care committee update
o February meeting for lobbying efforts for dental/vision for next school year
o Potentially a voucher system could be put in place in the meantime

o The Dental and Vision Care committee will approach practitioners in the
community to see if they’d like to participate in offering discounts/packaged deals
to grad students
o Work in progress on secure internet to off campus housing
 MLK Poverty Symposium
o Help distribute posters around campus about MLK day of service events
o January 31-February 2 a variety of workshops, speakers, movies will be offered

 Graduate Student Relief Fund
o Slowly getting funding, but donations are welcome
o Will explore different ways of getting more funding for this
GSAC REPORT (Dan Durcan)
 Recap: Christmas event at Canoe Club was successful!
o Thanks to Ruth Kabeche and Zach Williams for helping out
 Proposed upcoming events include, look out for dates/times on FB and GSC website:
o Skiing
o Ski lessons
o Thursday or Friday night skiing at Whaleback
o $200 of GSAC budget went to the graduate ski weekend, coming up in March
o Winter Carnival event – likely at 3 Guys BBQ (second weekend in February)
o Indian cooking night
o Lebanese cooking night

NORTH PARK REPORT (Regina Salvat)
 Proposed upcoming ideas (some in collaboration with Dan’s events):
o Rock climbing
o Skiing
 Skiway and/or Whaleback
o 3 Guys pub night
o Indian cooking night
o Cross country skiing/ice skating event
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
 Zach Williams: Contractors in the area have offered expertise/tools to anyone willing to
go help with Hurricane Sandy clean-up efforts in The Rockaways
o Still working on a date (travel, accommodation would be provided)
