Date: September 28, 2015 Job Title: Manager, Direct Response Marketing Term: Permanent, Full-Time Location: Toronto Summary: This management level position represents a key role within CNIB’s philanthropy leadership team and is responsible for the oversight and implementation of the organization’s direct marketing and monthly giving programs. This position is responsible for strategy development and supervision of the direct marketing program, delivering successful campaigns through such channels as direct mail, digital, face-to-face canvassing, and telemarketing. Reporting to the Director, Direct Response Marketing, the Manager will align direct channel strategies to be consistent with CNIB’s philanthropy strategy and meet overall growth and profitability objectives. Essential Duties entail (but not limited to): Leverages analytical insights to develop a comprehensive direct marketing strategy for the acquisition and retention of single-gift, monthly and intermediate donors. Within the framework of a national philanthropy strategy, develop and implement CNIB’s direct marketing program, which includes single-gift, monthly, mid-level and tribute giving, with the objective of maximizing annual donor participation and value, as well as overall profitability. The plan will set out objectives and specific activities to be pursued in each direct response channel. Works with internal stakeholders and team members to ensure campaigns timelines are met and that all marketing is integrated within the broader engagement strategy, brand guidelines and organizational messaging. Ensure each channel is meeting predetermined goals and functioning efficiently. Oversee the development of budgets and ensure they are maintained. On an ongoing basis, analyze channel and campaign strategies, and measure the effectiveness of all marketing media utilized, adjusting strategies and tactical implementation as needed. Oversee the engagement of outside marketing, communications and research consultants and vendors as appropriate to support specific strategic activities, and direct, supervise and appraise their performance. Work with the operations team and external vendors to ensure all gifts are received, processed and stewarded in a timely manner. Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in non-profit management, programming and philanthropy. Keep abreast of all new media, marketing and communications industry trends as well as current affairs and issues impacting CNIB and stakeholders. Any other duties as deemed necessary by the Director. Qualifications: (Education, Training, Experience): Excellent communication skills; comfortable conversing with a variety of people in different situations. Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills. Comfortable working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. Thoroughness, timeliness, flexibility and an ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines. Data-savvy and detail-driven. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications as well as other software applications such as CRM (familiarity with Raiser’s Edge software a plus). Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with vendors and staff. Resourceful, results-oriented with a positive, “can do” attitude. University graduate in marketing, communications or other related field. Five+ years of directly related fundraising or marketing experience. Track record of success in conceptualizing and implementing innovative marketing strategies and campaigns. Familiarity with multiple channels of distribution, with special emphasis on direct mail, digital, telemarketing and face-to-face fundraising. Ability to speak French an asset.
