Survey of Educational Technology
• We will…
– Explore what is available to educators on the Internet
and in software: join, trial, experiment, use, familiarize
ourselves with a wide variety of resources
– Examine how other educators are using technology in
their classrooms
– Devise lessons and activities for bringing technology
into our own classes
– Share what we learn with peers – teach and present
– Become leaders at encouraging technology in all
classes in your dept, site, city, state, etc.

4. Collect RSS feeds with Google Reader, collect 12+

6. Share your reading with Shelfari
7. Build content on 6-8 Web 2.0 sites – embed widgets to
Wiki
8. Present to the class on a Web 2.0 site
9. Design a technology-infused lesson plan
10. Participate in online discussions
Grade Points
Perfect Attendance -1 = 10 pts (-3 per unless emergency)
Blog 4 case-study videos = 10 pts
Build a Wiki & Portfolio = 10 pts
Build 8 widgets from Web 2.0 sites = 20 pts
Design a technology-infused lesson plan = 25 pts
Present to the class on a Web 2.0 site = 5 pts
Participate in class activities – Twitter, Delicious
bookmarking, RSS feeds, Shelfari, trials, online Google
Plus discussions = 20 pts
Our Classroom Management
30 hours live in class
+ 15 hours home and online
45 Carnegie hours
Class runs 4:30 – 8:30 with ½ hour lunch and breaks when you need
them

View the Wiki tutorials. Become comfortable with your Wiki. Make some
pages; keep folders and files organized
Begin looking for six - eight Web 2.0 sites where you can build content that
allows embedding
Find one or two great Web 2.0 sites and post the links and site summaries
in Google+
