SPECIAL & RELEVANT CONTRIBUTIONS:
I have accrued extensive and indepth experience in Textile industry and clothing domain, of almost 33 years since
completing the PG research in Textile Tech.at the Univ. of Leeds [UK ,1979] on a Commonwealth scholarship.
My key areas of professional and work contributions in the textile and clothing industry have been towards;
Core contributions: In depth understanding of integration in the garment industry Supply Chain, right from
fabric manufacturing to fabric finishing and production and processing of garments with special interest in the
`knitted` garments.The core areas of specialization have been new garment project setups, Assessment and
implementation of `Skill upgradation `needs and preparation and delivery of Training modules.Other than the
private sector, I have advised and served the public sector Textile undertakins like National Textile Corporation of
India,and also UP State Textile Corporation,of the state of UP. Now serving SIidcul ,in state of Uttarakhand.
Recently,a project was prepared and delivered for setting up a SSDC-Specialised Skill Development Centre- for
Textile industry {workers and supervisors } in the state of Gujarat, in India.
Also,Fabric sourcing [ including from Textile clusters ],their Quality control procedures ,Garment costing
and consumptions.
Professional & project services: For work with the garment and textile units, the focus has been the study and
improvement to the operational practices and imparting good practices to the processes of running textile Units ;
and also the planning of new projects of Greenfield garment and textile units esp. the vertically integrated
garment units eg Knitting to knit garments.
Academic contributions: In addition to the long work accrued in the textile and Clothing industry and
projects;I have regularly contributed as a Visiting Faculty and domain expert on part time basis for academic
delivery at the leading Apparel and textie institutes in the country and including premier institutions like the
National Institute of Fashion Technology[NIFT at Newdelhi] and the ASFT/Amity University ,near Delhi.
I have also advised and set up a new regional Garment & fashion Instt. namely S I F T,at Ludhiana in Punjab.
OVERSEAS ASSIGNMENTS:

Worked as production planning Head for this integrated textile and Clothing complex.set up by UnionMatex
and International Wool Sectt. [IWS] consortium.
Contributed to production of Woolen knit garments made on large circular Knitting machines.
Mekong Project Delta Fund. IFC, Ho Cho MinhCity,Vietnam



Implemented a unit wise Study for enhancing the operational efficiency of Knitwear garment making units in Bao
Loc province.
Implemented the detailed Feasibility Report for working of 6 such units as a networked cluster for garments.
Chinin Inc, Oakbrook, USA

Advised on cost effective sourcing and quality improvement of garment sourcing programs of this US based
large importer Co. ,that required production from 20 vendor units in the garment cluster of Tirupur,south India.
Implemented a method of garment costing based on Cost plus margin system in total garment supply chain.
Currently advising Faytechill clothing Co.in the USA,for their sourcing of ready to use fabric for garments.



IWS Study
 Implemented a short field Study for the International Wool Secttt. with Vinatex Vietnam for potential of
exportable garment making ,in Hanoi area,Vietnam.
 Have also worked as Consultant to the ITDG,UK,for their work with rural textile clusters in the state of Gujarat.

 Worked as lead consultant for the UNDP /Ministry of Textiles Study, of handmade Carpet clusters across
India…implemented over year 2004-2205
ITC /UNDP Study ,of textile and Garment SME units in Tajikistan,CIS
 Implemented a detailed field Study for the International Trade Centre/UNDP for challenges faced and market
competitiveness of SME garment making and knitwear making units in Khatlon & Sogd regions in Tajikistan,like
Textile City, Nohid Knititng Co, Rahemov Khujand city and Ortex Khujand city.
 Presently continuing this work for adviory on good operational practices in Olim Textile Co, n Tajikistan.
 Also studied the gaps in `skill upgradation` and need for setting up Skill development institute for garment units.

Planning and delivery of On site Implementation of an integrated project for M/s BH Exports Ltd, at Ludhiana
,for manufacturing of 10000 Garment/day with captive fabrics,
On site Implementation of `expansion` project for M/s Shivani Textiles ltd ,on Delhi-Jaipur road, for
manufacturing of 5000 garment per day with inhouse diversification to `open cut` Knit fabric vis a vis waste/cost
reduction for same.
On site Implementation of `expansion` project for M/s Innovative Textiles ltd ,at Butibori near Nagpur, for
manufacturing of 7000 garment per day with inhouse diversification to `open cut` fabric vis a vis waste/cost
reduction for same. The work also involves a new project for production of 10 ton/day of hosiery fabrics.
MILESTONE ACTIVITIES IN GARMENT INDUSTRY:
CHININ INC USA: in the area of fabric sourcing and garment production and quality monitoring of 1 Mln
pcs/year knit garments produced by 20 vendors in the south India cluster of Tirupur.
APPAREL PARK: Planned and implemented the setting up of a dedicated Apparel Park for the textile park
project for UPSIDC, Govt of UP, at Tronica city location, near to Newdelhi.,
TEXTlLE PARKS: Presently advising as independent Textile consultant for planning of `mega Textile Park` at
Sitarganj Ind.Area, in north India for Siidcul corporation of the State Govt of Uttarakhand.
Also advising on setting up a mini Wool and handloom based Common Facility Centre,for Directorate of Industries,in
the state of Uttarakhand.This will help create designed textile products by 400-450 weavers in the adj.villages.
WTIN,UK: regular contributor of India market focused articles on the Garment and textile industry to the World
Textile Intelligence Network, Leeds, UK. Have contributed 20 nos.Textile articles with India focus,for wtin.com
Visiting faculty: Contributed as a visiting faculty to the premier / national level Garment and fashion institutes
,namely N I F T Newdelhi, the Pearl Academy and the Amity Univ. School of Fashion Technology [ A S F T ].
Presently serving on the Board of Studies for the clothing and fashion deptt,at the ASFT, Amity Univ, Noida.
