He is responsible for technical issues related to construction, investment recovery, operation and management of $9 billion government-funded gas, generation (4,770 MW), transmission and distribution assets. Mr. Edozien is also the Director of Elinex Nigeria Limited where he provides technical management and financial advisory services to companies operating in heavy industry. Mr. Edozien, served as a Power Sector Consultant to the Africa Finance Corporation, a private sector-led investment bank and development finance institution created to help mobilize and channel required capital towards driving Africa’s economic development. He has also served as a Consultant for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank). Mr. Edozien earned his Master’s in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1983, and a degree in applied mathematics, and social studies at Harvard University in 1981. Panelists Myles F. Elledge - RTI Myles Elledge has 20 years of experience in international development policy and planning. He has worked in the U.S.A. and in 17 developing countries on issues of economic and social development as well as environmental health. He has experience leading interdisciplinary studies and strategic program evaluations to improve public sector management and access to basic services, with such clients as the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, and Japanese foreign aid agencies. Donald Hubbard - AES Donald Hubbard is the Managing Director of the AES LNG/Gas Program and is currently assessing the LNG/Gas strategy for markets served by AES. Previously, Mr. Hubbard was the Chief Financial Officer and a Project Developer for AES Africa Power Company BV, where he was responsible for managing investment opportunities in Africa, strategic planning in concert with the President and COO and managing APCO’s financing activities. Mr. Hubbard is an experienced international financial and project development advisor with 22 years of advisory experience for businesses conducting operations in various aspects of the power industry and other infrastructure related industries in Europe, Africa, China and the United States. Ms. Kenney is well versed in energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies and policies to support both urban and rural development, with a focus on stakeholder engagement. Before joining DAI, she led efforts to achieve the City of Chicago's building retrofit goals under the Chicago Climate Action Plan, and provided oversight of the city's electric utility franchise agreement. For the prior 10 years, Ms. Kenney developed strategies and programs for the U.S. Agency for International Development and managed a multimillion dollar portfolio of energy, water, and environment programs supporting policy, legal, and regulatory reforms; enterprise commercialization; and rural development. Earlier in her career, she worked in the electric utility industry after serving as an energy management expert for local government and private consulting firms. Davida Wood - World Resources Institute Davida Wood is a Project Manager with the Electricity Governance Initiative at the World Resources Institute. Prior to joining WRI, Davida was with USAID’s Office of Infrastructure and Engineering, where she developed and managed a portfolio of projects at the nexus of democratization and energy sector governance. This suite of projects focused on improving transparency, accountability and public participation in energy sector institutions as well as building the capacity of civil society to effectively participate in sector decision making processes. Originally from South Africa, her interest in environmental governance stems from work with a network of civil society organizations participating in the development of natural resource legislation to meet the needs of the new South Africa. Billy Pizer – Sanford School of Public Policy Billy Pizer is Associate Professor at the Sanford School and Faculty Fellow at the Nicholas Institute. His current research examines how public policies to promote clean energy can effectively leverage private sector investments, how environmental regulation and climate policy can affect production costs and competitiveness, and how the design of market-based environmental policies can be improved. From 2008 until 2011, he was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Environment and Energy at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, overseeing Treasury’s role in the domestic and international environment and energy agenda of the United States. Prior to that, he was a researcher at Resources for the Future for more than a decade. Dan Vermeer – Fuqua School of Business Daniel Vermeer directs Duke University's Center for Energy, Development, and the Global Environment (EDGE), a dynamic initiative focused on accelerating progress toward a sustainable energy system that can meet the global demand for energy, resources, and improved quality of life. Dr. Vermeer joined Duke from The Coca-Cola Company, where he led the Global Water Initiative, an industry-leading effort to formulate and implement a comprehensive approach to protecting the quality and availability of the company's primary ingredient.
