Research Skills Lesson Grade 8/9 Lesson Overview: Unit: Information Literacy Safe research skills on the web for age 12 to 14 Introduction: Children need to be kept safe from the perils of the world wide web. This lesson is intended to help educators teach middle school age children the following: - usable skills for safe internet research - practices that contribute to safe internet use - healthy practices when accessing information on the internet whether at home or at school - actions to take when an inappropriate site is accessed Information Technology skill: Students will learn how to navigate the internet and search for information and avoid inappropriate sites.
