 2006, BellSouth Foundation issued an RFP to
members of the Superintendents Leadership Network
The RFP specified district collaboration on specific
common need
Districts coordinate with the state-led virtual school
 Create a program for underserved students
support success in the 21st century.
objectives
Increase the number of underserved
students passing the GHSGT in the
areas of science and social studies
Insure that students are thoroughly
versed in test taking skills
Increase the graduation rate among
minority, at-risk, and special needs
students
Develop a program that can be adopted
statewide for the benefit of all
Georgia students.
Key components
Cooperation among districts with complementary
strengths
On –line, interactive, easy access for students,
randomly generated test from large bank of questions,
instruction cards
Low cost hosting
Teacher access to the site to enable teachers to
monitor use
Identification of areas where students experienced
difficulty
Created by highly experienced, successful teachers
750 students were be selected for participation
