Manager, Major Gifts
The Manager, Major Gifts, plays a critical role in the PC Ontario Fund. The incumbent works
strategically with team members from all disciplines of fundraising, in order to build financial
capacity. The position reports to the VP, Business Development.
The responsibilities and accountabilities of the Manager, Major Gifts includes but is not
limited to the following description:
Develop and implement a major gift fundraising program for both individual and corporate
prospects that maximizes engagement and investment from current, lapsed and new
donors. The Manager works collaboratively with the PCOF team and the senior leadership
volunteers who work on Committees and Cabinets for the many fundraising initiatives
throughout the year.
The Manager, Major Gifts will manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition
and stewardship of both Individual and Corporate donors at the leadership levels of
$1,000+ and $5,000+, respectively.

Develop and implement a major gifts program, including but not limited to:
 manage a personal portfolio of 100+ prospects
 maximize technology for effectiveness and efficiency - donor database, CRM
tools, Microsoft suite

assess suspects, prospects and donors through research, targeting,
segmentation and testing
identify, qualify and cultivate prospective donors
solicit, recognize and steward donors
develop strategic Donor Moves Management program
develop and manage Major Gifts campaigns – budget, gift matrix, prospect
review, peer assignments, leadership volunteer support, prospect clearance
Articulate the Case for Support to Donors to secure their investment into the
vision/mission/goals of the Ontario PC Party for Victory in 2018.
Making the Ask: actively solicit donations on a continual basis – phone, email and faceto-face.
Develop a Donor Experience Continuum that aligns to our lead campaigns and flagship
events.
Manage multiple major gift projects and initiatives simultaneously.
Support and work closely with senior leadership volunteers for major gift solicitations.
Track and prepare reports: VIP Call Lists; Lead Generation Reports; Major Gifts Pipeline;
Segmented Stakeholder lists;
Donor Services: priority response, communications, coordination, recognition and
stewardship.
Work closely and collaboratively with Manager, Fundraising Events; Manager,
Fundraising Communications; Managers, Tax Receipting and Compliance and
Coordinator, Fundraising Operations.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Required
 A passion for the Ontario PC Party principles, vision and accomplishments.
 Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications or a business related field.
 Minimum of 7-10 years of experience, holding progressively responsible positions in the
charitable or non-profit sectors, engaged in major gift fundraising from individuals
and/or corporate philanthropy for annual or capital campaigns; business development,
with emphasis on relationship-based fundraising and donor engagement.
 Exceptional solicitation and donor service skills.
 Superior communications skills: verbal, writing, editing, presentation, public speaking.
 Strong multi-project management skills, with agility to quickly switch gears.
 Experience, proficiency and demonstrated success developing and implementing a major
gifts program, including but not limited to:
 managing a personal portfolio of 100+ prospects
 proficiency in managing donor database, CRM tools, Microsoft suite
 assessment of suspects, prospects and donors through research, targeting,
segmentation, and testing
 identifying, qualifying and cultivating prospective donors
 solicitation, recognition and stewardship of donors
 strategic planning for a Donor Moves Management program
 developing and managing MG campaign – budgets, gift matrix, prospect
review, peer assignments, leadership volunteer support, prospect clearance

Astute listener with ability to understand, reflect, translate and match prospect and
donor interests to the Case for Support
A track record for shifting strategic thinking into action and results
Presence and confidence that projects credibility with donors and senior leadership
volunteers
Strong skills in: business analytics, organization, relationship-management, strategy
development, problem solving and interpersonal.
Exercises a high degree of tact and diplomacy and sound judgment.




Knowledge of Elections Ontario and CRA tax laws that regulate political contributions and
benefit personal and corporate giving.
Professional, positive, proactive, team player, driven by passion and high performance
Valid “G” class licence and willing to drive as required
Experience working with and as a Volunteer
Evening and weekend work as required


