In November of 1994 opened Erg-OSH, an Ergonomic consulting business. Erg-OSH specializes in helping manufacturing organizations integrate Ergonomics into their safety and health programs and in maximizing the contribution of Ergonomics in reducing overexertion musculoskeletal injuries. Additionally, assistance is provided merging the efforts of ergonomics and “lean manufacturing” for businesses pursuing those two objectives simultaneously. Ergonomic service has been provided for over 120 facilities in 27 states and nine countries. In 2007 became one of a handful of certified ergonomic trainers and consultants for General Electric Corporation and assisted them in re-writing their corporate ergonomic training course. In addition to expertise and vast experience in metals-related industries, service has also been provided for businesses in the following fields: instrumentation & electronics assembly, chemicals and refining, gas pipeline service, vinyl, wood & gypsum building product production, automotive parts assembly, farm & construction February 2014 1 equipment assembly, locomotive assembly and repair, helicopter maintenance, warehousing, mail distribution centers, telecommunication installation, aviation, gas turbine assembly, health care equipment assembly, pet food production, plastic product extrusions & die castings, surgical procedures, and administrative/office work. Nov. 1994- Present Sole Proprietor of Erg-OSH, a Davenport, Iowa based Ergonomic consulting business. Jan. 1990 - Oct. 1994 Senior Staff Ergonomist - This was a newly created position. It reported to the Alcoa Corporate Medical Director in Pittsburgh, PA, but the position was located at a large Rolled Products facility in Davenport, IA. The challenge was to develop a practical and effective ergonomic strategy for Alcoa that could be applied worldwide. Additionally this position was the company’s primary source of Ergonomic technical and legislative expertise. Oct. 1981 - Dec. 1989 Safety and Training Manager - This position was responsible for managing all aspects of the safety program at Alcoa's 700 person Badin, North Carolina aluminum smelter. July 1980 - Sept. 1981 Construction Safety Engineer - This position was responsible for establishing, monitoring and enforcing an accident prevention program for a $100M improvement project at Alcoa's Mobile, Alabama refinery. Up to 400 contractor employees were on site. Mar. 1978 - June 1980 Personnel Administrator - Safety and Training - This was an entry position. Responsible for assisting in the integration of safety into the management system of Alcoa's 700 person Mobile, Alabama refinery.
