Announcements:
1. End of term reminders from the Chair:
a) Faculty Performance Agreements (FPA) are due December 10th. Annual Review Document (ARD) are due
January 14, 2011. Please review the timetable for Annual Reviews (on files.kennesaw.edu)
2. Year of Peru. Please contact Dr. Dan Paracka to volunteer. Spring meeting dates: January 19, February 16, March
23, April 20
3. Brief updates:
a) Faculty Senate report: Dr. Kelley (topics for discussion as new business if needed). Dr. Kelley reported that
there was discussion on the university switching to a +- course grading. This system would not affect
students on HOPE but other scholarships may be affected. There will be a summary of this discussion
provided and she will forward a copy to everyone.
b) Italian Lecturer search: Dr. Santini reported that there were 4 good candidates. The committee has decided
to invite 3 candidates to campus.
4. Update on move to 2nd Floor Pilcher; reminder to begin preparing for a quick January move. Dr. Griffin informed
everyone on the updates to the 2nd floor renovations. He has met with the Dr. Kirby on a furniture budget for the
new offices. Everyone should be prepared for a move around January 15 th.
5. Other announcements from faculty & staff; Committee Reports; Kennesaw Tower. Dr. Griffin reported on the
Digital Measure report on evaluations. There is a website where you can see the response percentages. The
departments overall percentage rate was 43%. Dr. Griffin also reminded everyone that the campus will be closed
and buildings will be locked beginning December 17, 2010. He also announced the Spring semester Faculty
Meeting dates and noted that we will be meeting in Social Sciences Bldg.

II. Old Business:
1. Approval of Minutes from the November 9, 2010 Faculty Meeting. Minutes stand approved as presented.
2. Integrating Intercultural Competence into the DFL curriculum: Dr. Smith reported on the ICC’s website on
GAView. Dr. Jennifer Wade-Berg gave a report on the master plan for ICC.
3. Other old business from the floor
III. New Business:
1. Discussion: Faculty evaluations by the Chair: Can we establish guidelines for the meaning/s of “meeting
expectations” and “exceeding expectations” (discussion and guidelines/definitions requested by the Chair). The

faculty discussed this topic in great length with many ideas. This will be continued for more discussion and
clarification.
Vote to elect Administrative Review Committee members: Dr. Smith – Ballots were handed out and faculty voted.
Drs. Bernardy, Fedeli and Laval were elected.
Reelection of DFC and Chair of DFC to be elected at January 11 meeting. Vote was not done at the August
meeting as prescribed by the DFL Governance document. Dr. Griffin
Vote on Outstanding Senior: Dr. Viakinnou-Brinson handed out brief summaries from the two Outstanding Senior
candidates and asked everyone to vote for their candidate. Lauren Koblentz was voted Outstanding Senior.
