Roman history started when the Etruscan kings were conquered in 509 B.C.E, but legend has it start at 753 B.C.E with Romulus starting the city of Rome. 2. There is another legend (story that cannot be proved) of Rome and it’s about Aeneas who was a hero of the Trojan War that escaped and landed on Italy and started a civilization. The Founding of Rome 1. Romulus and Remus were relatives of Aeneas and they fought over who would get Rome. Romulus killed his brother and started the cities boundaries around Palatine Hill. 2. The Etruscans and the Romans fought back and forth, but eventually the Romans took them over and created a new government, a republic. My Thinking Important Details of Rome’s Geography and Early Life Hills and Rivers 1. The Latin tribe settled Rome and they decided on this place for the good location of 7 hills. Italy is on a peninsula and this allows people to trade by boat easily and get new land. 2.
