It seems unusually quiet with her not around. When I ask who does this or that when she is not there, the response is the simple shrug of shoulders. We miss her presence during this brief stint. At Genoa, we are looking into a maintenance list of things that need to be done. In a parish, one works on this list months and even years in advance to make sure that we are planning ahead. We cannot afford to wait until the last minute. If you feel that there is something that needs to be done at Genoa, please let the office know. The youth group will have met on Friday. We hope that this year will be the beginning of a very vibrant and growing year for the youth group for years to come. Youth group does not begin with 9th grade but at 6th. We will begin a Jr. youth group for 6th to 8th graders, more information to come. Over time, there will be more activities for the younger kids outside of CCD. We need to focus on what we have for now before we begin that. RCIA will be starting this fall again. Do you know of someone who is perhaps interested in joining the Catholic Church but hesitant? Ask them. They do not have to join because they attended the classes. We want people who want to be Catholic. The famous comedian Bob Hope was once asked after he retired if he considered becoming Catholic since he attended each week with his wife. He replied that he did not think he was worthy. If we do not ask, we do not know and many do not feel welcome. At St. Boniface, the race is on to get ready for the school year. Greg Greggila has finished polishing the floors and the furniture has started to go back into the classrooms. We are going to consolidate the internet connections between the rectory and the school and put the phones on VOIP to save over $3,000 per year on phone and internet service. No phone numbers will change but the price will. We also plan to update the internet connections in the rooms for reliability. Many thanks for all who have helped Greg with the school. There are many other things happening but in the words of St. John, it would fill the world if I wrote them all out. May God bless you all. St. Boniface and Our Lady of Lourdes are two wonderful parishes and I am so grateful to God for the opportunity to serve here. THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY - A Holy Day of Obligation is Thursday, August 15th. Mass will be held at 9:00a.m. at St. Boniface and 7:00 p.m. at the Grotto at Our Lady of Lourdes. Please bring your lawn chairs to the Grotto. RCIA – It’s not too early to think about joining the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults this fall. Weekly sessions will begin on Sunday, September 8th, after Mass (11:30) in Genoa’s OLL hall for those considering joining the Catholic Church at Easter. Come and see if we are a good fit for your journey toward God. The team would appreciate your registration by calling either parish office or Elaine Conley at 419-607-6037 so we can plan ahead for materials; or just join us at our meetand-greet, September 8th for a fuller explanation of the Catholic Faith.
