Name: ________________________ Date: _________________________ Sine Graph – Spaghetti Project Materials: - Unit circle Poster board Spaghetti Yarn Scissors Tape Ruler Directions: [10 points] 1. Cut out the blank unit circle and paste it to the top left hand corner of your poster board. 2. Write the degree measure for each angle on the unit circle. (0º, 30º, 45º…) 3. Wrap your yarn around the unit circle so that it is the length of the circumference of the unit circle. (Set this aside for later) 4. Make an x and y axis below your unit circle. (Make your y-axis 8 inches long, and make sure you have at least 15 inches on the right side of the y-axis [we will not be putting anything on the left]) 5. Mark off all of the angle measures on your x-axis. (0º, 30º, 45º… 360º) 6. With your spaghetti, for each angle on the unit circle: a. Place the piece of spaghetti at the point where the angle meets the unit circle. b. You will then mark off on your spaghetti, where the piece touches the x-axis. c. You will then break (or cut) the spaghetti at this point. d. You will then tape the broken piece on your graph at the corresponding angle. e. Repeat this for all angles on the unit circle. 7. Once all of your spaghetti is taped, take your yarn from step 3 and outline your sine curve starting at 0º and going to 360º. QUESTIONS: [2 points each] 1. On your poster, write the equation of the graph, the amplitude, frequency, and period of the graph. 2. Looking at your graph, what is the range? _______________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________ 3.
