Is Unrestricted Immigration beneficial to the United States?

Currently in the United States immigration reform is a major political topic being debated. It is known that there are ten to twelve million illegal immigrants in the United States and a decision has to be made how to act upon this problem. Not only do the current illegal immigrants need to be addressed but also many immigrants trying to cross the boarder are being treated poorly and even dying on their quests to a better place. In my research paper I will address whether or not having these illegal immigrants in the country is beneficial or not. This topic matters because immigration reform is at the top of the agenda when it comes to governmental issues. Also, many of these immigrants are working illegally and being mistreated which needs to be resolved in a proper manner.

There a few ways in which unrestricted immigration can affect the United

States. The first things illegal immigration plays a part in would be the economy.

Many of these immigrants are working illegally and that in part affects the economy as a whole. Second, would be cultural because these immigrants are bringing over their cultural views and having an impact on this nation in that area. Lastly, illegal immigrants are affecting social services such as welfare because some of these illegals are receiving welfare benefits.

The answer to this question is difficult but overall illegal immigrants are hindering the state of this country more than benefiting. One argument would be that illegal immigrants increase the cost of social services substantially. Also, certain studies show that crime rates have increased in areas becoming populated with illegal immigrants. Finally, the amount of illegal immigrants being paid illegally can bring down wages for American citizens. Illegal immigrants raise the price of social services and have spiked crime in certain areas. Therefor, restricting or redefining immigration criteria would benefit the country.

Overall, unrestricted immigration is a problem that is largely affecting the

United States. By putting a permanent solution into affect that would lower our social service expenses as well as bring down crime rates by illegal immigrants everyone in this country could benefit majorly. The United States must act now with immigration reform in order to solve a problem that continues to hinder our everyday lives.
