Grant Application Administration
Location, location, location!!!
 University of Toronto - in almost all cases, research
located on campus flows through U of T
administration
 Hospital Administration - research located in a
hospital normally flows through the relevant hospital
research office.
Procedure for Signing of Applications for
U of T Administered Grants
The University’s internal MRA approval system
 For all University submissions a completed MRA
(My Research Online) application (https://ppmwd.utoronto.ca/irj/portal) is mandatory!!!
 This online form, once submitted, will
automatically deliver the application to your
University Department Chair and then to the next
appropriate signatory
 The Vice Dean, Research & Innovation approves
on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine

Submit through MRA well in advance of
your deadline!!!
The University will not provide an institutional signature, or
submit your application to a sponsor until your MRA
submission has routed through for all approvals.
Your final, polished version can be uploaded after the
deadline.

 CIHR: For most programs approvals are now provided through the eapproval system. In these cases, submit your application through
ResearchNet to the University, who will in turn provide their approval
by submitting to CIHR. No signatures are required.
 If a physical signature is required on an application, please contact
cindy.faber@utoronto.ca or andreas.leung@utoronto.ca for direction
on obtaining the appropriate University approvals. Approval
requirements can vary greatly from sponsor to sponsor. E.g. some
require a signature from the Dean of Faculty, others from the
Executive Officer/President of the University.
