New Business-Driven Technology Architecture Is Among the
Highlights of USERS’ EdCon 2007
Valley Forge, Pa., October 3, 2007 – USERS, Inc., a business unit of Fiserv, Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV), hosted
more than 400 attendees at EdCon 2007, the company’s 24th annual educational conference, held September
24 - 26, 2007 at the Hyatt Grand Champions in Indian Wells, Calif. EdCon brought USERS’ credit union clients
together to learn about the company’s product and technology plans, share best practices, network with their
peers and discover new technology solutions to help them achieve their business goals.
“As our clients’ strategic business partner, USERS understands the vital role that the right technology plays
in a credit union’s success,” said Joe Barry, USERS’ president. “Our EdCon theme, ‘Moving Forward Together,’
reflects the fact that USERS is moving forward aggressively with innovative, business-driven technologies that will
help our clients to advance their business plans and succeed.”
The EdCon opening session on Monday, September 24 departed from the traditional format of speakers
giving PowerPoint presentations from a podium. Instead, the entire three-hour session was a parody of “The
Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” with a Jay Leno impersonator interviewing “guests” (USERS’ management team
members) who provided overviews of USERS’ corporate and technology initiatives. The Opening Session also
included standard Tonight Show features such as a live band on stage and the popular “Jaywalking” skit, with
people on the street answering questions to demonstrate their knowledge of financial services. EdCon 2007 offered 40 educational sessions on timely topics such as anti-money laundering, regulatory
compliance, the virtual branch concept, business process management and member relationship management.
USERS provided an overview of its new business-driven technology architecture and unveiled a prototype of
the first software product developed using this architecture. The agenda also included a review of USERS’ 2008
product plans, along with targeted sessions for the many credit unions using the provider’s in-house and online
systems.
EdCon’s Birds-of-a-Feather networking sessions brought together credit unions with a common interest
in topics such as mobile banking and cash recyclers, while lab sessions allowed attendees to gain hands-on
experience with USERS’ solutions that included the DataSafe® ViewPoint data access/reporting tool and the Endto-End Lending solution.
The annual EdCon Exhibits & Product Fair featured Fiserv group products such as CredAccess credit
reporting, Paytraxx bill payment, Fiserv EFT products, the Wisdom and IPS-Sendero financial management
[more]
solutions and NetEconomy anti-money laundering, along with business partner products that integrate with and
complement USERS’ open core system. This year, 30 business partners demonstrated their integrated solutions and
services during the fair. USERS’ next client conference is the 2008 User Group Meeting, to be held April 14-16, 2008 at the Hyatt
Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, Penn.
