ADMISSIONS TO Ph.D AND INTEGRATED Ph.D IN NEUROSCIENCE
FOR THE YEAR 2009
Applications are invited for admissions to Ph.D and Integrated Ph.D programmes in the
National Brain Research Centre.
Ph.D in Neuroscience
Eligibility :
1. Master’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Science/
Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications /
Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology. OR
2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering / Technology/ Medicine OR
3. Master’s degree or equivalent in engineering / Technology/ Medicine
Candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination are eligible to apply.
Integrated Ph.D in Neuroscience
Eligibility :
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Science/
Physics/ Chemistry/Mathematics/Statistics/ Computer Applications/
Pharmacy /Veterinary Science/ Psychology. OR
2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology/ Medicine

Only the candidates with a track record of atleast 60% marks in 10th and 12th and 55%
marks in the qualifying examination will be considered.
How to Apply
Applications forms can be downloaded from the NBRC website www.nbrc.ac.in and the
same is also available with the Academics Section, NBRC which can be obtained by
sending a demand draft of Rs.50/- drawn in favour of Director, NBRC payable at
Manesar / Gurgeon. Completed applications forms along with a fee (Rs.750/- for the
candidates applying online and Rs.850/- for the candidates applying offline only.Rs.200/for SC/ST candidates applying through both online or offline in the form of demand draft
in favour of Director, NBRC payable at Manesar / Gurgeon should be sent to the
Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, NH-8, Manesar – 122050, Haryana .

DIRECT ADMISSION TO Ph.D PROGRAMME 2009-10
The University admits a limited number of candidates directly to Ph.D programmes on
the basis of their performance in the viva voce examination (without entrance
examination) both in Monsoon and winter semesters in various areas of research in the

Eligibility : Only those candidates shall be considered for direct admission to Ph.D
Programme who have
a) Obtained M.Phil., M.Tech., M.P.H. degree of a recognized University / Research
Institution with minimum final grade point average of 6.00 in 10 point scale.
b) Master’s degree with FGPA of 6.00 in the 10 point scale with atleast 2 years
research experience in reputed institutions with research publications comparable
to M.Phil standard
(i)
For admission to Centre for Molecular Medicine : In addition to (a) and (b) above,
candidates with MBBS/B.V.Sc. degree of recognized University / Institution with
one year experience after internship or with MD or MVSc degree or with M.Tech.
degree in Biotechnology after completing M.Sc are also eligible.
(ii)
For admission to Centre for Study of Law & Goverence : In addition to (a) and (b)
above, candidates with relevant administrative / legal experience are also eligible
(iii) For admission to Centre for Sanskrit Studies.: In addition to (a) and (b) above,
candidates with degrees from any discipline with Sanskrit and Pali background are
also eligible.
(iv) For Direct admission to Ph.D programme in PSDE : Research publications in the
areas of Discrimination and Exclusion with special reference to SC/ST and
Minorities are desirable
(v)
For School of Information Technology : Only those candidates in science branch
shall be considered for Direct admission to the Ph.D who have obtained M.Phil in
the related field of Science, Engineering and Pharmaceutical Science with the
required Final Grade Point Average (FGPA). In addition to (a) and (b) above,
candidates with Advanced Diploma (Post Graduate) in Bioinformatics with the
required FGPA are also eligible.

Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi to the Deputy Registrar (Admissions),

submitted along with the prescribed fees as per the instructions given on the website.
