Admission Requirements for the Environmental Discipline
Candidates applying for admission to the class of Member in the Environmental Discipline of
the HKIE are required to have the following:

Academic Requirement
The academic requirement for Member in the Environmental Discipline is:

an accredited honours degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Building
Services, Chemical or related disciplines.

a relevant science degree such as in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science,
Applied Science, "topped-up" with a Master's degree in engineering or
equivalent.

Other academic qualification will be assessed on individual merit.
Training/Experience Requirement
Scheme 'A'
3 years' training in environmental engineering + 1 year responsible experience.
General Experience Route
Candidates who have not undertaken pre-approved training will be required to have had
a minimum of six years working experience, post academic qualification. Relevant
fields in environmental include:

Water Pollution

Noise Pollution

Air Pollution

Solid and Hazardous Waste Management

Energy Conservation

Environmental Impact Assessment

Environmental Technology
Candidates who satisfy the above requirements will be accepted for Professional Assessment.
