After earning his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1987,
Mark started his career as a staff accountant with Schneider Downs & Company, Inc in Pittsburgh, PA
working in the audit and tax departments until 1993. During that time Mark became a licensed Certified
Public Accountant.
In 1993, Mark left public accounting to join a family owned conglomerate of businesses held by Snyder
Associated Companies, Inc. (“Snyder”) located in Kittanning, PA. The principal business lines for Snyder
includes limestone quarrying, mining of sand and gravel, manufacturing of cement and concrete block,
drilling and operating oil and gas wells, marketing of natural gas, orange groves and managing
investments. In 2004, Mark was promoted to Vice-President – Chief Financial Officer for Snyder and is
currently holding this position.
In 2000, Mark was elected to the board of directors of Merchants Bancorp of Western Pennsylvania, Inc.
and its subsidiary, Merchants National Bank of Kittanning. Subsequent, in 2007 Mark was appointed
Chairman of the Board and completed a merger with Farmers National Bank of Kittanning. Mark
retained his position as Chairman of the merged bank holding company, Farmers & Merchants Bancorp
of Western Pennsylvania, Inc., until he resigned in 2010 to accept a board seat with NexTier, Inc and its
subsidiary, NexTier Bank.
In 2010, Mark was appointed Chairman of NexTier Bank and continued in this role after the bank
merged with Farmers & Merchants Bank of Western Pennsylvania in October 2014. The merged banks
retained the NexTier name. Also, in October 2014, Mark was elected by the shareholders to be a
director of NexTier, Inc. NexTier has approximately $1 billion in assets and serves western Pennsylvania
region with its corporate headquarters in Butler, PA. NexTier Bank has 24 locations throughout
northern Allegheny, Armstrong and Butler counties.
Mark currently lives in Indiana Township, Allegheny County, with his wife Lisa of 26 years. They have
two children, Marisa, a sophomore at LIM College in NYC, and Aaron, a sophomore at Shady Side
Academy. Mark enjoys hiking, biking and golfing in Western Pennsylvania.
