Principal’s Message
worked daily in the classrooms to assist

We are now into June and have a very busy
last few weeks of school. It is our focus to
continue to remind students to let faith and
wisdom lead their actions as we engage in
activities inside and outside the classroom.

successful Annual Garage Sale.

Grade 2 students. These students were so
excited to receive their First Communion on
Sunday May 5th at St. Paul the Apostle Church.
We look forward to a productive last couple
weeks of school.
Kindergarten Registration & Open House –

Open House for all new kindergarten
children and their parents/guardians will
occur in the foyer on Wednesday, June 18,
2013 at 4:00pm.
CODE OF CONDUCT – DRESS CODE
Thank you to students who come to school
each day “dressed appropriately for positive
Christian learning and working environment.”
T-shirts, pants, capris and skirts or shorts that
are at least mid thigh in length, are the best
choices for school summer wear.
Students are reminded that due to the
amount of daily physical activity outdoors
and in the gym, that they should always
have running shoes at school.
Signing Students In and Out
Reminder that if a student is signing out of
school for an appointment, or leaving early
for the day, that student must be signed out
by a parent/guardian.
Field Trip Volunteers
Please note that all volunteers and
supervisors for all trips and school activities
are required to have a current Criminal
Background Check on record with the
school prior to their participation in any
school event. Parents/Guardians are able
to obtain a Criminal Background Check
through the local police for a minimal cost.
The Police Checks must be completed
renewed every three years. Please make
sure your CBC is up todate for September
2013.
Primary and Junior Division E.Q.A.O.
Assessments
Grade 3 and 6 students have completed the
E.Q.A.O Provincial assessments for
reading, writing and mathematics. Both the
grade 3 and 6 assessments are based on
the Ontario curriculum expectations for
Grade 3 and Grade 6 and should reflect
students’ learning throughout the Primary
and Junior Divisions.
Thanks to all students and staff for their
flexibility during this process
In September 2014, parents and students
will receive the results of these
assessments.
Thank you to all Grade 3 and 6 students who
attended these before/after school camps and
the staff who ran the events. Great problem
solving occurred.
School Organization 2014-2015
The staff is continuing to plan for the 2014 –
2015 school year.
Due to increasing enrolment and full day
kindergarten expansions we will have two
portables next year. The portables will be
junior classrooms.
Three new staff members have been confirmed
for next year: Isabel Santos – kindergarten,
Julie Halle – grade 2 and Anna Oriecuia –
kindergarten ppt
Catholic School Council News
Thank you to members of our Catholic School
Council for another successful year of activity
and support.

BBQ and Open House
☺ Welcome back BBQ will be held
in September to get our new
school year rolling.
Track and Field
Our O.F.I.P. Tutoring Programs, supported
financially by the Literacy and Numeracy
Secretariat, are now completed. We are
very pleased with the success of the
programs.
Thank you to Ms. Ball, Track and Field coordinator, and staff for organizing and running
an excellent school track and field day on May
10th, 2014.
Athletes who have qualified for the East Track
and Field Championship Meet have been now
practicing daily. We are all very excited about
the system track meet at Kingston’s Invista
Track & Field facility.

ECO School Initiatives
Congratulations on applying to maintain
our Eco School Silver status. Thank you
to the work of Mrs Urie and Mrs Peirson
and all the students for completing the
extensive report to ensure our silver
rating!!
Important Notice: School Library
Books Due !
All books borrowed from the school library are
to be returned the week of June 9-June 13 for
inventory, repair and shelving. If the books are
not returned, are damaged or lost a fee for
replacing these books will be required ($7 for
paperback and $15 for hardcover).
The students have enjoyed many books this year
and it is important that we maintain our
resources for future use. Your support regarding
this request is greatly appreciated. Any
questions or concerns should be forwarded to
Mrs. Stewart, Library Resources, through the
main office.
Wolfe Island Camp
The camp is open to children 5 to 12 years.
Cost of registration is $135.00 per child for
a one-week session with a 10% discount for
each additional week that a child is
registered. Camp begins the week of June
30 and completes August 8. Activities
include swimming, sports, games, crafts
and weekly trips! To register visit

Yearbooks
Our Yearbooks are in and will be going
home on Monday June 9, 2014. Thank you
to everyone for your support.
Looking for Babies!
We are looking for babies born/or will be born
in either June, July or August this year. These
mothers and babies are needed as active
volunteer participants in our Roots of Empathy
program. This program has a coordinator who
works with the classrooms to teach lessons
about empathy and caring for others. If you or
someone you know is interested please
contact the school for more information.
