May 2nd to 6th, 2016

Monday
Tuesday
We had our transportation parade. We greeted
classmates, said the pledge of allegiance, said our
class promise and did calendar. We sang our ‘Days’
and ‘Months’ songs, subitized to 1-12 dots, read our
popcorn words, did our ABC chart, sang our vowel
song and reviewed our habits of thinkers. We
practiced for our program. Our AM kindergartner
of the week shared his poster and we wrote a
sentence about him using shared writing. We
shared how we made our vehicles. We were
introduced to our new poem ‘Smiley the Shark. We
watered our bean plants in the courtyard. We read
Parades! And Here Comes the Parade, and
determined which was fiction and which was nonfiction. We had recess. We read Mom and Me.
We did our packets. We greeted friends, sang My
Country ‘Tis of Thee, said our class promise and
did calendar. We counted to 100 by ones and
read our popcorn words. We did our ABC charts
with digraphs and reviewed the habits of thinkers.
We practiced for our program. We wrote a
sentence about our kindergartner using shared
writing. We heard more sharing of transportation
vehicles. We graphed whether we liked the
transportation parade. We read Does a Kangaroo
Have a Mother Too? by our May author, Eric
Carle. We practiced our whole program in the
music room and watered our bean plants in the
courtyard. We had recess. We did literacy
workshop. We read Going to the Zoo.
Wednesday
Thursday
We did the Wednesday page of our packet. We
greeted one another, sang ‘Grand Old Flag’, said
our class promise and did calendar. We counted
to 100 by fives and tens and read our popcorn
words. We did ‘Action Alphabet’ and practiced
for our program. We reviewed the habits of
thinkers. Our AM kindergartner of the week
brought something for us to estimate and we
wrote a sentence about him using interactive
writing. We sequenced the lines of our poem. We
watered our bean plants and read Little Cloud
by Eric Carle in the courtyard. We did literacy
workshop. We did shared reading, and read Is
Your Mama a Llama? We had recess. We ate
lunch in the cafeteria like first graders.
We did the Thursday page of our packet, greeted
classmates, sang ‘America the Beautiful’, said our class
promise and did calendar. We counted backwards
from 20, subitized ten frames and read our popcorn
words. We did our blend cards and reviewed habits of
thinkers. We practiced for our program. The AM class
wrote a sentence about our kindergartner of the week
using interactive writing and wrote individual
sentences about him. We read Cinco de Mouse-o and
looked at some items used in Cinco de Mayo celebrations. We read, highlighted the popcorn words in and
illustrated our poem. We did Literacy Workshop. The
AM class had library. We read Llama, Llama Misses
Mama. The PM class did shared reading and a Time
for Kids – Animal Families. We had recess. We
worked on a ‘secret’ project.
Friday
We did the Friday page of our packet, greeted each other, said the pledge of allegiance and our
class pledge and did calendar. We counted on from three different numbers, read our popcorn
words, reviewed our habits of thinkers and practiced for our program. The AM class had Family
Friday and did shared reading and a Time for Kids – Animal Families. The PM class had
library. We read The Night Before Mother’s Day. We had fitness and recess. We had Guidance.

Homework Due
Dear Parents,
Upcoming Dates:
May 11th – Kindergarten Program 7 p.m.- Feel free to invite friends and
relatives. All students are asked to participate. Students are asked to arrive
at 6:50. We ask that they ‘dress up’, without purchasing anything new. The
‘performance’, in the gym, will last approximately 20 minutes and will be
followed by refreshments in the commons. The students have been working
hard and are excited to entertain you!

May 17th – Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast
May 23rd – Northwest Library Summer Reading Program Presentation
June 3rd – End-of-Year Party
