Midterm Exam Review-Pre-Algebra
The midterm exam for Pre-Algebra is on Chapters 1, 2, 4, 5, 13, and 10.
The problems are very similar to the problems on the chapter tests and so the
study guide includes copies of the chapter tests handed out in class along with
vocabulary words from the book(these definitions should be in your notebook) and
chapter tests from the book.
For each chapter, the vocabulary words are listed on the page of the book along
with the page on which the definition is found. You must know the definition of every
word. For each chapter, the book chapter test is listed on each page along with any
item not on the tested listed in parentheses.
For Chapter 1: Vocabulary word-decimal on page 52, and chapter test on
page 56.
For Chapter 2: Vocabulary words on page 108 and chapter test on page 112.
For Chapter 4: Vocabulary words on page 210 and chapter test on page 214.
For chapter 5: Vocabulary words on page 258 and chapter test on page 262
For Chapter 13: Vocabulary words on page 752 and chapter test on page 756.
For Chapter 10: Vocabulary words on page 564 and chapter test on page
568.
The format of the midterm exam:
The format of the midterm exam consists of 10 matching vocabulary words to
definitions worth 10 points, 10 multiple choice problems worth 10 points, 10 fill in the
blank worth 10 points, 5 short response problems worth 30 points, 10 true or false
problems worth 10 points, a performance task worth 20 points and short tasks for
Smarter-balanced assessments worth 10 points.
Students also have a teacher evaluation form to fill out, along with a self- evaluation
form to fill out for a total of 10 points.

Students will also be given a handout with formulas to use, as well as a number bank
sheet at the back of the exam for the students to use for the fill in the blank problems.
Materials and behavior during the midterm exam:
Students may bring in only a clear water bottle filled with water to drink during the
midterm exam.
Students must go to the bathroom before entering the classroom to take the exam.
Students must bring in their own pencils and erasers to use during the midterm exam.
Calculators will be provided; however if students have a calculator on their phone, they
may use that part of their phone during the exam. Please charge your phone the night
before.
Scrap paper will also be provided. Please put your name on all papers used so that Mrs.
Griffin may see all the work that you did for credit.
Students must be quiet during the exam, and must be on their best behavior.
Any disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and students will immediately be escorted
to ISS with a 0 for their midterm exam and a bad recommendation in their permanent
file.
Cheating will also not be tolerated with a 0 for the midterm exam and a bad
recommendation in their permanent file.
The length of the exam is 1 hour and 30 minutes. If a student does get done, he/she
will have the opportunity to take an Algebra readiness test to see if the student is
indeed ready for Algebra 1.
