Everyone is required to register with www.akpsi.org.
How to register:
1. Go to www.akpsi.org
2. In the upper right hand corner click "sign in"
3. Click the bottom option "click her to register"
4. Fill out appropriate online forms
This will grant you access to the full akpsi.org website, send you occasional emails on
happenings and opportunities in the fraternity, and allow other brothers to find you in
the database.
Dues
All members must pay $70 for dues by the GBM of Week 4 (Tuesday, Oct. 22nd).
Every week after this, there will be a $5 additional fine. Any member who does not
pay by the end of week 9 will be deactivated as a member for the following term or
unable to demit as a senior if you are graduating that term.
There are three methods to pay your dues.
1. Cash given to Sam Twardoch.
2. Check given to Sam Twardoch (made out to “Alpha Kappa Psi”).
3. Online via the Alpha Kappa Psi WePay account on WePay.com.*
*If you would like to use WePay to pay online via credit/debit card, you will be subject
to a 3% service charge in addition to the $70 payment. At the beginning of each term I
will be sending every member an email with the invoice for dues to their preferred email
address; it is your choice whether or not to use this means of payment. Dues paid via
WePay will incur the same $5 weekly late fee as those paid by cash or check.
We highly encourage everyone become a Yellow Rose Society member. If you choose
to do this please add $10 onto your term dues and we will sign you up. This
membership is good for one year and will help fund Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation
programs such as Case Competition, The Academy, All-Academic Team and various
scholarships. First time members will receive a Yellow Rose pin and our chapter will
gain ACR points. Additionally, the Kappa Chapter holds a Yellow Rose event each
academic year to reward those who are members of the Yellow Rose Society.
We understand there may be terms in which a class conflicts with GBM, but this does
not excuse you from paying dues that term. You must still pay the full amount and are
highly encouraged to participate in all fraternity events. You are only exempt if you
take a term off from school (i.e. not being enrolled in any classes at the U of O).
If you have any financial issues and are unable to pay your dues by Tuesday of week 4
(Oct. 22nd), contact Sam Twardoch at twardoch@uoregon.edu or 503-679-3893, to
work together to find an acceptable solution. Anyone who comes forward with financial
problems after October 22nd will be subject to the fines mentioned above.
Attendance
GBM’s will be held every Tuesday of the term from 6-8pm in Lillis 211, unless
otherwise noted. To gain access to professional meetings, members must present the
fraternal handshake and password. All GBM’s are mandatory, and members must be
present unless they have a valid excuse (illness, family emergency, scheduled class or
exam, etc). Members must notify the Warden, James Hadid at jhadid@uoregon.edu or
408-307-6338 at least 3 hours in advance for any delays or absences.
One strike can be gained in the following ways:
1. Not attending GBM (without valid excuse)
2. Not attending a ritual (without a valid excuse)
3. Showing up at an event under the influence of a substance
4. Being 10 or more minutes late to GBM (without notification)
5. Leaving GBM before it has been concluded (without notification)
6. Not showing up for an event you signed up for. If you cannot make the slot you
signed up for, you must talk to James no later than 24 hours before the event or find
someone to take your place.
7. Not attending committee meetings
8. Not wearing your pin to designated GBM(s) more than once
After one strike: you will receive a call/email warning from James
After two strikes: you are required to attend the next exec meeting and explain why you
gained two strikes. Exec will determine the consequences.
After three strikes: you will be placed on probation with the fraternity and face
expulsion pending a review of the situation by the executive committee.
** Members will not be allowed to enter GBM late if a guest speaker attends. Members
will be let in after the speaker has concluded and GBM has begun. A strike will occur if
the member is not present at GBM. **
Required Hours
All members must complete 1 rush hour, 2 hour of campus service, 1 hour of
community service and 2 hours of fundraising by the end of week 10, Friday
December 6th. Events will be scheduled each term and dates announced in advance.
This gives every member the opportunity to be involved in the event planning process
and have leadership experiences to later recall on interviews. Because we pride
ourselves on being brothers, we encourage everyone to attend all brotherhood (official
and unofficial) events.
If you have not completed your required fundraising hours you will be fined $20, which
must be paid by Friday of week 10. If the money is not received by the end of the term,
you will be put on suspension and not be allowed to be part of AKPsi until all money is
turned in.
While AKPsi is a voluntary organization, you can only get something valuable out of
the fraternity if you participate in its activities and make an effort to grow. It’s how
much you put into it! By not attending AKPsi meetings and events, all of the brothers
are affected.
Rituals
All rituals are required events, and can only be missed under extreme circumstances.
All rituals are professional dress with your fraternity pin. If you do not have your pin or
are not dressed appropriately, you will be asked to leave the ritual and will be given a
strike.
Rules for all rituals:
1. Professional dress with fraternity pin
2. No alcohol (All fraternity events are dry events)
3. No cell phone use during rituals (rarely do rituals go more than 2 hours, please
respect the fraternity by turning off your phone.)
4. Please refrain from doing homework or any other activities while attending a
ritual
5. Please show up on time to the event
Guest Speakers or Professionals
Guest speakers are required professional events, and can only be missed under extreme
circumstances. The dress code for guest speakers is professional with fraternity pin
unless notified otherwise. If you do not have your pin or are not dressed appropriately,
you will be asked to leave the ritual and will be given a strike.
Rules for guest speakers
1. Professional dress with fraternity pin (unless stated otherwise)
2. No alcohol (All fraternity events are dry events)
3. No cell phone use during professional events (please respect the speaker by
turning off your phone)
4. Please refrain from doing homework or any other activities when a professional
is attending
5. Please show up on time to the event
If the rules for a ritual or guest speaker are broken, a strike will be given and James will
contact you about the issue. If you have a conflict with the event, please contact James
about at least 24 hours in advance.
Points
The top 5 points at the end of the term receive the following prizes:
1st- Free dues for the following term ($70)
2nd- Drop Bonus on following term fees ($25)
3rd- Gift Card ($15)
4th- Gift Card ($10)
5th- Gift Card ($5)
Minimum Requirement: 600 points by the end of week 10 (Thursday December 5th)
This point system is designed to encourage members to be as active as possible within
the fraternity; therefore all members can gain the most possible from being and
participating in AKPsi. It is also designed to make sure members are contributing to all
mandatory events through the minimum points, ONLY the MANDATORY events:
GBM’s, Ceremonies, and 5 Required Volunteer Hours are included in the minimum
point amount. Doing the bare minimum requirements outlined in this packet is what is
required of each member to remain in good standing with or without the point system
minimum, though the point sheet at the end of the packet provides an easier way for
each member to keep track of their own points if they wish. If you are unable to reach
the point minimum by the end of the term, you will be suspended for the following term.
Ways to increase your points above the bare minimum include: brotherhood, alumni,
regional/national Akpsi events (PBLI, SOTC,etc), and extra volunteer hours in fundraising/philanthropy. Any other extra point opportunities will be made available in
GBMs.
TO GO IN “DISCIPLINARY ACTION AND LEAVES OF ABSENCE”
You may be suspended (and lose your Good Standing status) for failing to meet
financial or attendance requirements. Suspension bars you from attending all AKPsi
events. Suspension will be lifted after one term pending you pay dues for both the
current term and the prior term of suspension.
You may request a Leave of Absence and keep your Good Standing for the following
reasons:
a) Military Leave
b) Co-Op/Internship
c) Study Abroad
d) Medical Emergency
e) Extreme Hardship
*Medical Emergencies and Extreme Hardships require an application that must also be
approved by the Regional Director.
If you are considering leaving AKPsi either temporarily (Suspension or Leave of
Absence) or permanently (Resignation or Expulsion) you MUST inform the Executive
Board and complete the appropriate paperwork. Leaving without informing leadership
damages the entire chapter and is extremely unprofessional.
AKPsi Attire Policy
There are AKPsi events that require our members to wear certain attire: business casual
or professional dress. It is important to learn how to dress appropriately to prepare for
our future career as well. For professional attire, dress as if you are going to an
interview—keep it conservative.
*You are required to wear your PINS at business professional AND business
casual events unless told otherwise. (If you do not have your pin for any reason,
please let Justin McCormick, VP of Professional Activities; know in advance of the
event.)
Failure to wear the appropriate dress will result in being denied entrance to the
events as well as getting credit for attending the event. Please remember that all of
us represent AKPsi, and we would all like to uphold a vision of professionalism. Have
respect for yourself, your fellow brothers, and our guests by being suitably dressed.

If any of this doesn’t make sense or you have questions about a particular
garment/outfit, feel free to contact me. There is a time and place for fashion and
creativity in the work place. However, my job is to make sure that you all know how to
dress appropriately to avoid awkward situations. If you have any questions or concerns,
please contact Justin McCormick at mccormi2@uoregon.edu or 541-951-7116
